Maximilian Hartung (born 8 October 1989) is a German right-handed sabre fencer, two-time team European champion, two-time individual European champion, 2014 team world champion, and two-time Olympian. Hartung is chairman of the Athletes Commission of the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the founding president of Athleten Deutschland e.V. He was a member of the Sporthilfe supervisory board for four years, four years in the board of the German Fencing Federation and two years in the board of the German Olympic Committee as the voice of the athletes. Csanád Gémesi (born 13 November 1986) is a Hungarian right-handed sabre fencer, 2018 team European champion, and 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist. Career Gémesi won a bronze medal in the 2003 Cadet World Championships in Trapani. In 2013, he took part in his first World Championships, which were held that year in Hungary. He reached the quarter-finals, where he was defeated by team-mate and reigning Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi. The next season, he climbed his first World Cup podium with a silver medal in Madrid. Oh Eun-seok (; born 2 April 1983) is a South Korean retired sabre fencer. He is an Olympic and Asian Games gold medalist in the team event. Early life A native of Daegu, Oh was a former runner and took up fencing in middle school. He attended Osung High School, one of the few high schools in the city with a fencing club. It was not until he enrolled at Dong-Eui University, known for its fencing team, that he decided to turn professional. Career Oh won gold in team sabre and silver in individual sabre at the 2003 Junior World Fencing Championships in Trapani, Italy. He also participated in the Universiade hosted by his hometown and won silver in the individual event. In 2005 he reached the final of the Seoul Grand Prix and was defeated by his rookie national teammate Kim Jung-hwan. Ilya Vladimirovich Mokretsov (sometimes spelled Mokretcov, russian: Илья Владимирович Мокрецов; born 17 April 1984, in Kazan) is a male sabre fencer who first represented Russia then Kazakhstan. Career Mokretsov took up fencing at age twelve after coach Lev Belusov scouted him at the ice rink. In 2000 he joined the Russian junior national team, which became team world champions in 2002. At the Junior World Championships he earned an individual silver medal in 2004. The next year, at the 2005 Summer Universiade in İzmir, he joined as a reserve a Russian team made up of experienced fencers Aleksey Frosin, Aleksey Yakimenko and Aleksey Dyachenko, who won the team gold medal. Eli Dershwitz (born September 23, 1995) is an American left-handed sabre fencer, four-time individual Pan American champion, and two-time Olympian. In 2014, Dershwitz won the US Men's Saber National Championship, becoming the youngest US senior men's saber championship holder. Dershwitz then won the 2015 Junior World Fencing Championships in saber, becoming the inaugural U.S. men's saber fencer to win a world title. He is a four-time Pan-American Championship title holder, and the 2015 Pan American Games champion in saber. Dershwitz competed in fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He returned to Harvard University as a sophomore, winning individual saber in the 2017 NCAA Fencing Championship and as a junior in the 2018 NCAA Fencing Championship. Matyas Szabo (born 19 August 1991) is a Romanian-born Hungarian-German fencer, team World champion in 2014. Career Szabo is the eldest son of Vilmos Szabó, bronze medallist at the 1984 Summer Olympics in men's team sabre, and Réka Zsófia Lázár, bronze medallist at the 1992 Summer Olympics and silver medallist at the 1996 Summer Olympics in women's team foil, both from Brașov and members of the Hungarian minority in Romania. When he was two years old, his parents moved to Germany and became fencing coaches at TSV Bayer Dormagen. Szabo began fencing at the age of four because his parents' occupation had him practically live on the piste. He chose sabre, his father's weapon, because the only foilists at TSV Dormagen were girls.
