The coat of arms of Queensland is the oldest in Australia, and was first granted by Queen Victoria in 1893 through the simplest form of heraldic grants; with the shield of arms, motto, helmet, mantling and crest. Suggestions and submissions Up to 1892, suggestions were being made as to what the state's coat of arms was to constitute and the pictures below illustrate the four main depictions that were considered. Below are the four proposed coat of arms submitted to the British College of Arms and from which the first edition of the coat of arms was taken. Electoral District Of Cairns
Cairns is an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia. The division encompasses the central business district and inner-suburbs of Cairns, in Far North Queensland. Major locations include Bungalow, Manoora, Kanimbla, Earlville and Woree. History Created in 1888, Cairns has historically tended to be a safe Labor seat with a blue-collar economy based on sugar, mining and railways. However, in recent decades such industry has been surpassed in importance by tourism and service industries for wealthier retirees and has grown increasingly marginal. This trend culminated in 2012, when Gavin King took the seat for the LNP on a massive swing of over 13 percent, becoming the first conservative to hold the seat since 1904. Vicky Elizabeth Darling (born 29 November 1966 in Brisbane, Australia) is a Labor politician elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in September 2006 as the member for Sandgate. Darling was preselected by the Labor Party in 2006 She replaced controversial Labor MP Gordon Nuttall who was jailed in July 2009 for corruptly receiving secret commissions. Electoral District Of Gladstone
Gladstone is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The seat was created as a reconfigured version of Port Curtis for the 1992 election. It consists of the city of Gladstone and some of the towns of the former Shire of Calliope. This includes the localities of Ambrose, Benaraby, Boyne Island, Builyan, Mount Larcom, Tannum Sands and Ubobo. The town of Calliope is now part of the Callide electoral district. The current member is Labor MP Glenn Butcher. Butcher won the seat following the retirement of long-serving independent Liz Cunningham, who won the seat on National Party preferences after defeating then Labor MP Neil Bennett at the 1995 election. Liz Cunningham
Elizabeth Anne Cunningham is an Australian politician. She was an independent member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1995 to 2015, representing the electorate of Gladstone. A conservative MLA in a traditionally Labor district, Cunningham is perhaps most well known for having brought Rob Borbidge's Coalition minority government to power in 1996, following the loss of the Mundingburra by-election by the then Goss Labor government. Early life Cunningham was involved in local politics prior to entering state politics, serving on the Calliope Shire Council from 1988 to 1995 and serving as its mayor from 1991 to 1995. Broadwater is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created at the 1991 redistribution. The electorate is based on the northern end of the Gold Coast. It includes South Stradbroke Island as well as Labrador, Paradise Point, Runaway Bay and Sanctuary Cove and Coombabah. Peta-Kaye Croft (born 5 August 1972, in Mount Isa) is an Australian Labor Party politician who represented the seat of Broadwater in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. Hinchinbrook is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It is currently represented by Nick Dametto, of Katter's Australian Party. Geography Originally primarily a rural electorate, the district in its present form is a narrow coastal strip running from just south of Tully to the northern fringes of Townsville. Prior to the 2017 redistribution Hinchinbrook had spanned just south of Innisfail and included the towns of Mission Beach and Tully. Electoral District Of Cunningham
Cunningham was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1888 to 2009. Prior to its abolition, the district occupied an area of the Darling Downs, south and west of Toowoomba. Historically it was centred on the town of Clifton. The eastern portion of Cunningham drew voters from the southern suburbs of Toowoomba. There were also a number of small rural towns in the electorate, including Pittsworth, Millmerran and Cambooya, but no major centres. It was solidly conservative for its entire existence, and was held by the National Party without interruption from 1920 until the Nationals merged into the Liberal National Party of Queensland. The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major political party in Queensland, Australia. It was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party and the National Party.
