Mellrichstadt Station
Mellrichstadt station is a railway station operated by the Deutsche Bahn in the Lower Franconian town of Mellrichstadt in Germany. General The station is located on the Schweinfurt–Meiningen railway in southern Germany and, since the closure of Mühlfeld station, is the last stop on the Bavarian side of the border with Thuringia. From 1898, the station was the departure point for the Mellrichstadt–Fladungen railway which ran scheduled services until 1987. Since then the line has become a museum railway worked by the ‘’Rhön-Zügle’’ (“Little Rhön Train”). History Rail services began on the Meiningen–Schweinfurt route in 1874 and on the branch line to Fladungen in 1898. As a consequence of the division of Germany the Erfurt to Schweinfurt line was cut in 1945. From then on Mellrichstadt became the terminus for trains from Würzburg and Schweinfurt. Eisenach–Lichtenfels Railway
The Eisenach–Lichtenfels railway (also called the Werrabahn in German—Werra Railway) is a single-tracked main line with a standard gauge of in Thuringia and Bavaria in southern and central Germany, that runs mostly along the river Werra. It runs from Eisenach via Meiningen to Eisfeld and, formerly, continued to Coburg and Lichtenfels. It was opened in 1858 and is one of the oldest railways in Germany. Meiningen station is a junction of four railways and with its facilities is one of the most important railway stations in southern Thuringia, Germany. It consists of two once separate stations, the former Prussian station as a through station on the Werra Railway and the Bavarian station as a terminal station on the Schweinfurt–Meiningen line. Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof
Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof is the largest railway station in the Lower Franconian city of Schweinfurt and its transfer hub to the majority of regional buses. In addition to the Hauptbahnhof, the Schweinfurt Mitte (Schweinfurt Central) and Schweinfurt Stadt (Schweinfurt Town) stations also lie within the city, closer to the centre, on the Bamberg–Würzburg railway. Importance The station is no longer served by long-distance traffic since the introduction of the Interregio line from Stuttgart via Würzburg and Schweinfurt to Erfurt in 2001.
