''Melicious'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Melissa Lefton. It was intended for release on August 21, 2001, by Jive Records, however, it was delayed indefinitely. The album was produced by The Matrix and explores a variety of eccentric topics through a satirical lens. ''Melicious'' received generally favorable reviews from critics, with many praising the radio-friendly nature of the album and the unorthodox themes explored throughout it. Prior to the album's shelving, a mockumentary titled ''Behind the Muse'' was produced in order to promote ''Melicious''. Melissa Lefton
Melissa Janis Lefton (born August 13, 1975) is a singer and songwriter. Lefton began playing keyboards at the age of 10. After finishing high-school she moved to New York to study communications at New York University, though decided to also focus on a career in music while studying. Melissa joined the punk rock band "Product" answering an ad in ''The Village Voice'' seeking a "theatrical female frontperson" who "wanted to be a star." Product played at venues including CBGB. They were signed and recorded an album though its release was cancelled. Her debut solo album, '' Melicious'', signed to Jive Records, was slated for release on August 21, 2001 but was also never released. ''Melicious'' took on topics like pollution, date-rape, occultism and murder, with tongue in cheek. Stylus Magazine gave Melicious a positive review and referred to Lefton as the "queen of shelved teenpop". Roger McEvoy Greenawalt is a music producer and musician known for carrying a ukulele at all times everywhere he goes. SunnyD (named Sunny Delight prior to circa 2000) is an orange drink developed in 1963 by Doric Foods of Mount Dora, Florida, United States. Additional plants were built in California and Ohio in 1974 and 1978, respectively. In April 1983, Sundor Brands bought out Doric Foods; Sundor Brands was then purchased by American multinational Procter & Gamble in March 1989. The drink is superficially related to orange juice, but also resembles a soft drink without carbonation. The drink produced an estimated $450 million in revenue for Procter & Gamble in 2004. ''Behind the Music'' is a documentary television series on VH1. Each episode profiles and interviews a popular musical artist or group. The program examines the beginning of their career, their road to success, and the hardships they may have encountered. In 2021, it was announced that the series would be rebooted by Paramount+, which premiered on July 29, 2021. Premise Each show focuses on a musician or musical group, documenting both the successes of the musicians and the problems they faced during their careers.
