Mela (1980 Film)
''Mela'' () is a 1980 Malayalam-language Indian film directed by K. G. George, starring Raghu, Anjali Naidu, and Mammootty. It is noted for starring the shortest actor (Raghu) as the protagonist and in a full-length character. Plot The protagonist, working as a clown in a circus in the town, comes to visit his village. He is looking for a bride. The heroine, a tall lady, gets charmed by the wealthiness (compared to the other citizens of the village) of the protagonist even though he is a dwarf. She assents to marriage. Married, they go to the town to join the circus camp. Things come to a different world when they reach the circus. Here the clown is a very insignificant figure. Sreedharan Champad
Sreedharan Champad is circus artist, circus historian and Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. He has worked in a number of fields, including working as circus manager, flying trapeze artist, circus company PRO, auto driver, bill collector, journalist and writer. Champad has written over 20 books including novels, more than 100 short stories, biographies and articles. His book ''An Album of Indian Big Tops'' chronicles the history of circus industry in India from 1880 to 2010. Biography Sreedharan was born in 1938 at Champad near Thalassery, Kannur district to Kunjikannan and Narayani. After passing tenth class, he joined Devagiri College, Kozhikode, but due to financial constraints he dropped his study and gone to Madras. Mullanezhi
Mullanezhi Neelakandan Namboothiri (1948–2011), popularly known as Mullanezhi, was a Malayalam poet, playwright, lyricist and actor from Thrissur in Kerala state of India. He was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice: in 1995 for the drama ''Samathalam'' and in 2010 for the poetry collection ''Kavitha''. He wrote more than 70 songs for 25 movies and also acted in films like ''Uppu'', ''Piravi'', ''Kazhakam'' and '' Neelathamara''. Mela Raghu (Puthenveli Sasidharan, died: May 3, 2021) was an Indian actor who worked in the Malayalam film industry. Biography In 1980, at a circus show in Kozhikode, he caught the attention of actor Sreenivasan and got the opportunity to act in the film Mela. With his performance in this film, he came to be known as Mela Raghu. He later acted in a few films and appeared in over 30 films in Malayalam and Tamil, including the Tamil film Apoorva Sagodharargal. His last film was Drishyam 2. He and his wife Syamala had a daughter, Shilpa. Death Raghu died on May 3, 2021, at Amrita Institute of Medical science Hospital in Kochi due to various health problems. Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail (; born 7 September 1951), known mononymously by the hypocorism Mammootty (), is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema, Malayalam films.
