''Megastomia'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pyramidellidae, the pyrams and their allies.Rolán E., 2005. Malacological Fauna From The Cape Verde Archipelago. Part 1, Polyplacophora and Gastropoda. Taxonomy Over fifty species worldwide have been placed in (sub)genus ''Megastomia'' Monterosato, 1884 by a number of authors (e.g. Saurin, 1959, 1962; Peñas & Rolán, 1999; Giannuzzi-Savelli et al. (2014). On the basis of 16s mtDNA sequence data, Schander et al. (2003) distinguished, and placed in ''Megastomia'', two species (''M. conoidea'' (Brocchi, 1814) and ''M. corimbensis'' (Schander, 1994)), which clustered separately from other species placed in ''Odostomia'' Fleming, 1813. However Høisæter (2014: 34) correctly pointed out that the type species ''Odostomia conspicua'' Alder, 1850 "is a typical ''Odostomia s.s.'' and has few traits in common with ''O. conoidea''".
