All-comers Track Meet
All comers track meets are usually small local events, considered the grassroots of the sport of track and field athletics. Organization of these meets can range from "professional" to almost disorganized. Some meets are so small that only a couple of people put the whole thing on. It's all based on the simple philosophy of the sport; it only takes two people to hold a race. The formal elements required are a place for the race to take place, and neutral officials to start and judge the finish of a race. Multiply that by dozens to hundreds of participants participating over the spectrum of track and field events and you have a meet. All comers track meets have been long standing traditions held in most major cities across the United States and Canada. Some series have a history going back over 50 years. There are generally two seasons when these occur, those seasons being outside of the formal scholastic season. There is a winter season (indoors in most areas but outdoors i ...

Swap Meet
A flea market (or swap meet) is a type of street market that provides space for vendors to sell previously-owned (second-hand) goods. This type of market is often seasonal. However, in recent years there has been the development of 'formal' and 'casual' markets which divides a fixed-style market (formal) with long-term leases and a seasonal-style market with short-term leases. Consistently, there tends to be an emphasis on sustainable consumption whereby items such as used goods, collectibles, antiques and vintage clothing can be purchased. Flea market vending is distinguished from street vending in that the market alone, and not any other public attraction, brings in buyers. There are a variety of vendors: some part-time who consider their work at flea markets a hobby due to their possession of an alternative job; full-time vendors who dedicate all their time to their stalls and collection of merchandise and rely solely on the profits made at the market. Vendors require sk ...

Train Meet
A train meet is the situation in railroading or rail transit operations in which a train traveling in one direction "meets" another traveling in the opposite direction, either while traveling on parallel double or multiple tracks, or while stopping and waiting on a railroad siding for the other train to pass on a single track mainline. Determining the time and location of where such trains meet is paramount in railroad engineering particularly in single track sections to avoid collisions or to allow faster trains to bypass slower service trains. Determining when and where a train meet occurs is also a classic mathematics problem. See also * Passing loop A passing loop (UK usage) or passing siding (North America) (also called a crossing loop, crossing place, refuge loop or, colloquially, a hole) is a place on a single line railway or tramway, often located at or near a station, where trains or ... In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Google announced Meet was to be made available to all users, not just Google Workspace users, in which it previously was. The use of Meet grew by a factor of 30 between January and April 2020, with 100 million users a day accessing Meet, compared to 200 million daily users for Zoom as of the last week of April 2020. History After being invite-only and quietly releasing an iOS app in February 2017, Google formally launched Meet in March 2017.
