Meeandah Railway Station
Meeandah railway station is an abandoned station on the Pinkenba railway line in the suburb of Pinkenba, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is 8.7 kilometres (5.4 mi) from the Brisbane central business district and from Central station by rail. It closed as a staffed station in 1930, reopened as an unattended gate in 1931, and was finally closed on 27 September 1993. The name Meeandah comes from the English word "meander," after the twisting and turning route of the nearby Brisbane River. History The line to Pinkenba opened on 1 April 1897. During World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1945), troop camps were located in the area because of deep berthing available to ships at Pinkenba on the mouth of the Brisbane River. Queensland Rail City Network
The Queensland Rail Citytrain network, provides urban, suburban and interurban electric passenger railway services in South East Queensland, Australia. History The first railway in Queensland did not run to Brisbane, but ran from Ipswich to Grandchester and opened in July 1865. The line into Brisbane was not completed until the opening of the Albert Bridge in July 1875. A start on electrification of the suburban network was approved in 1950 but a change of state government in 1957 saw the scheme abandoned in 1959. Kingsford Smith Drive is a major road in Brisbane. The road was named after the aviator Charles Kingsford Smith. It connects the suburb of Pinkenba to the Brisbane central business district at the Breakfast Creek. In economics, rationalization is an attempt to change a pre-existing ad hoc workflow into one that is based on a set of published rules. There is a tendency in modern times to quantify experience, knowledge, and work. Means–end (goal-oriented) rationality is used to precisely calculate that which is necessary to attain a goal. Wayne Keith Goss (26 February 1951 – 10 November 2014) was Premier of Queensland from 7 December 1989 until 19 February 1996, becoming the first Labor Premier of the state in over thirty two years. Eagle Farm railway station is an abandoned passenger station on the Pinkenba railway line, only (4.2 mi) from the Brisbane central business district; from Central station by rail. History Opened in 1952 as Baraini railway station, it was renamed a few months later to Airport railway station since it was located near the old Brisbane Airport at Eagle Farm before it moved to its current location, north, at the demolished suburb Cribb Island. Airport station was unpopular with airport passengers, mostly due to very infrequent services and significant walking distance to the airport terminal. It was renamed Eagle Farm railway station in 1988 along with the electrification of the line, only until a few metres past the station.
