Mediterranean Cup (men's Football)
The Mediterranean Cup was an association football competition contested by men's national teams and national B teams of the states bordering the Mediterranean Sea. There have been three tournaments for the Mediterranean Cup: the first one was officially called Eastern Mediterranean Friendship Cup, the second was called Eastern Mediterranean Cup and the last one was just "Mediterranean Cup". Italy, Egypt, Greece and Turkey were the four participants of the first two editions (Italy played with the national B team). Spain and France joined in the last edition (both with the national B team). The first edition, the only one with a permanent location, Athens, was played in 1949, lasted less than a month and was won by Italy B. Spain National Football B Team
Spain B was a secondary football team run occasionally as support for the Spain national football team. They commonly played matches against 'B' teams from other football associations, from 1949 to 1981. Early history Spain B's first game is considered by some to be the one on 29 May 1927 at the Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid, where they beat the Portugal A team 2-0, thanks to second-half goals from Francisco Moraleda and Manuel Valderrama. Leoforos Alexandras Stadium
Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium ( el, Γήπεδο Απόστολος Νικολαΐδης), commonly known as Leoforos Alexandras Stadium or Leoforos Stadium, is a football stadium and multi-sport center in Athens, Greece. It was inaugurated in 1922 and is the oldest football stadium in Greece currently active. It is the traditional athletic center of Panathinaikos A.C. and has been the home ground of Panathinaikos FC for the most part of the club's existence. The stadium is named after the historic club's president, official and athlete Apostolos Nikolaidis. El-Sayed El-Dhizui
El-Sayed Mohammed Al-Tabei "El-Dhizui" (14 September 1926 – 24 December 1991) was an Egyptian footballer. He was born in Port Said. He competed for Egypt at the 1948 Summer Olympics and the 1952 Summer Olympics. Al-Tabei was given the nickname ''El-Dhizui'' for his likeness to a local-based Italian player called Desi Lucetti. He was first known in his home city of Port Said as ''Desi Al-Saghir'' or Desi Junior, which later changed to ''Deswi'' or ''El-Dhizui''. Club career El-Dhizui began his playing career at an early age with his school at the Nile Primary School and later at Port Said Secondary, where he was spotted playing in a school league by Hussein Al-Deeb, coach of the Al-Masry Club, who was astounded by the youngster's ability on the ball. Manuel Badenes Calduch (31 October 1928 – 26 November 2007) was a Spanish footballer, who played as a forward for clubs such as FC Barcelona and Valencia CF. Club career Badenes started his career at CD Castellón. His first season at the club saw him score four goals in ten games which resulted in a move to Barcelona. He spent two season at the club, winning two La Liga titles before moving to Valencia. He scored 90 goals in 97 games at Valencia before moving to Real Valladolid, where he won the Pichichi trophy awarded to the top scorer in La Liga in 1958. Giuseppe Baldini (; 11 March 1922 – 26 November 2009) was an Italian football player and manager. During his playing career, Baldini played at both professional and international levels as a striker, before becoming a football manager. Leandro Remondini (; 17 November 1917 – 9 January 1979) was an Italian association football player and manager, who played as a midfielder or as a defender. Club career Born in Verona, Remondini was a defensive midfielder, who capable of covering any midfield role for his teams and who could also play as a full-back. After playing two seasons in Serie B with Verona, he debuted in Serie A at 20 years of age with Milan, in the same year that Italy won the 1938 World Cup. During the war period, he went from Modena to Casale, and back to Modena, before heading for the capital. With Lazio he played his best football, scoring 19 goals in 95 games and earning a spot on the Italian team for the 1950 World Cup. Alekos Chatzistavridis ( el, Αλέκος Χατζησταυρίδης; 1 January 1915 – 1 January 1998) was a Greek footballer who played as a forward and a later manager. His real name was ''"Stavridis"''.
