Mediapolis Community School District
The Mediapolis Community School District, or Mediapolis Schools, is a rural public school district headquartered in Mediapolis, Iowa. It is mostly within Des Moines County, with a small area in Louisa County, and serves the city of Mediapolis and the surrounding rural areas. Greg Ray has been the superintendent since 2009. Incumbent Superintendent Adam Magliari will start in June 2023. Des Moines County is located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,910. The county seat and largest city is Burlington. It is one of Iowa's two original counties along with Dubuque County; both were organized by the Michigan Territorial legislature in 1834. Louisa County ( ) is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,837. The county seat is Wapello. Louisa County is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Louisa County was formed on December 7, 1836, as a part of Wisconsin Territory. Two theories have been offered for the origins of its name: one is that it was named after Louisa Massey, who was very well known in the area at the time because she avenged the murder of her brother when she shot the party responsible; the other is that it was named after Louisa County, Virginia. The Southeast Iowa Superconference, also known as the SEISC, is a 18-team athletics and activities conference based in southeastern Iowa. The conference was created in 1991 from the merger of the Deerwood Conference and the Southeast Iowa Conference. It is made up of 1A, 2A and 3A high schools. History The conference formed from the 20 schools in the Deerwood Conference (Danville, Harmony, New London, Notre Dame, Burlington, Van Buren, WACO, West Burlington, and Winfield-Mt.
