Mean Machine (U.D.O. Album)
''Mean Machine'' is the second studio album by German heavy metal band U.D.O. It was released in 1989 via RCA Records. After their previous album, ''Animal House'', Peter Szigeti had been replaced by Andy Susemihl from Sinner, Frank Rittel by Thomas Smuszynski (who later went on to Running Wild) and Thomas Franke by Stefan Schwarzmann. Dieter Rubach, who joined the band after the recording of ''Animal House'' left and was replaced by Smuszynski. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Running Wild (band)
Running Wild is a German heavy metal band formed in Hamburg in 1976. They were part of the German metal scene to emerge in the early to mid-1980s, and are also considered to be one of the country's so-called "big four" of power metal, along with Grave Digger, Helloween and Rage. Over the course of their career, they have released 17 studio albums, three live albums, five compilation albums, and six singles/EPs. Although their earlier releases contained Satanic themes and imagery, from the third album on, the band's primary subject matter centered around pirates, sailing and other historical events. In 1987, the band released the album ''Under Jolly Roger,'' which was a switch to pirate-based and historical themes, creating and influencing the later named pirate metal subgenre of heavy metal in the 2000s in the process. Gaby Hoffmann (manager)
Gaby Hoffmann ( Hauke; born in West Berlin, West Germany) is primarily known as songwriter under the pseudonym Deaffy and former manager for the heavy metal band Accept. She has also contributed cover art concepts, marketing ideas for the band and even stage moves and wardrobe. She is married to the band's guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. She retired from the manager position in 2019. Work for Accept Accept hired Gaby Hauke as their manager in 1981 after releasing ''Breaker''. She secured a spot supporting Judas Priest on their World Wide Blitz Tour the same year, and is credited for songwriting for the first time on Accept's next album ''Restless and Wild'' (1982). She is credited as lyricist on all songs on their albums from ''Balls to the Wall'' (1983) to ''Death Row'' (1994), with the exception of two instrumentals on ''Death Row''. Andy Susemihl
Andy Susemihl is a German guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer. He began his career in the 1980s and gained international success since 1987 in hard rock bands such as U.D.O. and Sinner. Life and career Born and raised in Germany, he first learned guitar at the age of 12 and started to play local clubs. As a well-respected guitar player, he was asked to join the hard rock band Sinner in 1986 to record their 4th album ''Dangerous Charm''. The album was followed by a large European tour. When former Accept-singer Udo Dirkschneider formed his new band U.D.O., he asked Susemihl to join the band, as well as Dieter Rubach (formerly of Accept), ''Sinner'' guitarist Mathias Dieth and drummer Thomas Franke, for their ''Animal House'' tour. Udo Dirkschneider
Udo Dirkschneider (born 6 April 1952) is a German singer and songwriter who rose to fame with German heavy metal band Accept. After leaving the band in 1987, he formed U.D.O., with which he has also enjoyed commercial success. Biography Former Accept and current U.D.O. lead singer Udo Dirkschneider has a long career spawning almost five decades that helped to shape German heavy metal. His unique and raspy voice approach and, his taste for huge choruses made big part of Accept's appeal and made him the one of most recognizable characters in the heavy metal history. Dieter Rubach
Dieter Rubach (born 28 April 1955 in Solingen) is a German bass player, composer, engineer and producer. Life and career In the early 1970s, Rubach joined the heavy metal band Accept, first on keyboards, later on bass until he left in 1978 and was succeeded by Peter Baltes. In 1983, after leaving the German pop band Lichtblick, he formed his own hard rock band Bad Steve, along with other ex-Accept members like Frank Friedrich and Jan Koemmet, who left the band after their albums ''Breaker'' and ''Restless And Wild''. Rumors and pictures say that 3 other Accept members (Jörg Fischer, Stefan Kaufmann and Hansi Heitzer) also played with Bad Steve. Sinner is a German heavy metal band formed by vocalist and bassist Mat Sinner in 1982 (who later joined Primal Fear). They were part of the German heavy/speed/power metal scene. Their latest album, ''Brotherhood'', was released on 15 July 2022. History Based in Stuttgart, Germany, Sinner released their first album, ''Wild'n'Evil'' in 1982. This album, along with the next two (''Fast Decision'' and ''Danger Zone'') were raw affairs, having little in common with the melodic metal they would later become known for. After many personnel changes (including drummer Edgar Patrik leaving to join Bonfire), the band saw the addition of Accept's Herman Frank on guitars and the release of ''Touch of Sin'' in 1985.
