Md. Reazuddin Ahmed
Muhammad Reazuddin Ahmed ( bn, মোহম্মদ রিয়াজ উদ্দিন আহমেদ; 24 October 1929 – 14 February 1997), popularly known by his daak naam Bhola Mia ( bn, ভোলা মিঞা), was a Bangladeshi politician, lawyer and minister. He was a member of parliament for the then Rangpur-13, then Rangpur-15 and Lalmonirhat-3 constituencies. He was the deputy speaker of the 4th parliament of Bangladesh. Early life and education Ahmed was born on 24 October 1929 to a Bengali Muslim family in Lalmonirhat District, Lalmonirhat (then under Kurigram District, Kurigram), Rangpur Division, Rangpur district, Bengal Presidency, Bengal Province. His father, Dalaluddin Ahmed, was a renowned ''wakil'' of Kurigram, and his mother's name was Rahimah Begum. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calcutta in 1945, and became associated with politics whilst enrolling for law. He thereafter left education to pursue his political career. Lalmonirhat District
Lalmonirhat ( bn, লালমনিরহাট জেলা, ''Lalmonirhat Jela'' also ''Lalmonirhat Zila'') is a district, situated at the northern border of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rangpur Division. Lalmonirhat mahakuma was established as a district on 1 February 1984. It lies north of Kochbihar and Jalpaiguri of West Bengal, south of Ranpur, east of Kurigram and Kochbihar and west of Rangpur and Nilphamari district. The international border line of Lalmonirhat district is 281.6 km long. Etymology At the end of 19th century the workers of the Bengal Duras Railway (BDR) while digging the mud for the installation of rail line, found a red color stone and since then, the place was recognized as Lalmoni. Six Point Movement
The six point movement was a movement in East Pakistan, spearheaded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which called for greater autonomy for East Pakistan. The movement's main agenda was to realize the six demands put forward by a coalition of Bengali nationalist political parties in 1966, to end the perceived exploitation of East Pakistan by the West Pakistani rulers. It is considered a milestone on the road to Bangladesh's independence. Background Opposition leaders in East Pakistan called for a national conference on 6 February 1966, to assess the trend of post-Tashkent politics. On 4 February, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with some members of the Awami League, reached Lahore to attend the conference. The next day on 5 February, he placed the Six Points before the subject committee and urged to include the issue in the agenda of next day's conference.
