McGill University Faculty Of Dentistry
The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is one of the constituent faculties of McGill University. It became established as a constituent of McGill University in 1904 as the McGill Dental School, a department in the McGill University Faculty of Medicine until becoming its own faculty in 1920. In 2022, the Faculty of Dentistry was renamed as the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences to reflect the diversity of research conducted in the Faculty that goes beyond the dental chair. The Faculty is closely affiliated with the Montreal General Hospital, Jewish General Hospital, Montreal Children's Hospital, and McGill University Faculty of Medicine. General Practice Residency
There are two forms of institution-based training for general dentistry available for dental school graduates in the United States: * General practice residency (GPR) * Advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) Program details Both GPRs and AEGDs can be 1-year programs with an option available to continue for a second year or they may be a two-year program from the start. They allow the new dentist to further hone his or her skills in most of the traditionally defined disciplines of dentistry while at the same time increasing one's speed and refining one's techniques. Jocelyne Feine
Jocelyne S. Feine (DDS, MS, HDR, FCAHS) is an American clinician-scientist and internationally recognized dental implant pioneer. Along with her husband, former dean of McGill University Faculty of Dentistry Jim Lund, she is most recognized for her work on the "McGill Consensus Statement" in 2002 which established an evidence-based standard of care of two implants for mandibular complete dental prostheses throughout the dental faculties of the world. William George Beers
William George Beers (May 5, 1843 – December 26, 1900) was a Canadian dentist who founded Canada's first dental journal and served as the founding dean of the Dental College of the Province of Quebec. In addition, he is referred to as the "father of modern lacrosse" for his work establishing the first set of playing rules for the game. Dentistry Beers was a successful and notable dentist. Emma Gaudreau Casgrain (2 June 1861, in Montmagny, Quebec – 1934) was the first woman to be licensed as a dentist in Canada. Biography Gaudreau, born in Montmagny, studied with the Ursulines. In 1879, she married Henri-Edmond Casgrain (1846-1914), dental surgeon, inventor, alderman and first Quebec motorist.
