A formal Irish name consists of a given name and a surname. In the Irish language, surnames are generally patronymic in etymology but are no longer literal patronyms as, for example, most Icelandic names still are. Sally McClean
Sally Ida McClean is a Northern Irish statistician, computer scientist, and operations researcher. She is a professor of mathematics in the school of computing at Ulster University, and a former president of the Irish Statistical Association. Topics in her research include workforce modeling, health administration, interactive architecture, and survey methodology. Education McClean was born in Belfast. She earned an MA in mathematics from the University of Oxford in 1970 and an MSc in mathematical statistics and operations research from Cardiff University in 1972. She completed a Ph.D. in 1976 at the Ulster University at Coleraine. McClean Telescope
The Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope, is the oldest continuously existing scientific institution in South Africa. Founded by the British Board of Longitude in 1820, it now forms the headquarters building of the South African Astronomical Observatory. The institution was located on a small hill south-east from the centre of Cape Town. Over the following century a suburb of the city grew up in the area; the suburb was named Observatory after the pre-existing Royal Observatory. It was declared a National Heritage Site in December 2018 and has also been the subject of an ICOMOS/IAU Case Study as a World Heritage Site. McClean Lake Mine
The McClean Lake mine is a uranium mine and milling operation located west of Wollaston Lake, about 700 kilometres north of Saskatoon, in the Athabasca Basin region of Saskatchewan, Canada. The McClean ore body was discovered in 1979, followed by the discovery of the JEB ore body in 1982. From 1985 to 1990, a cluster of deposits named Sue A, Sue B and Sue C were discovered. Production from the JEB and Sue C open pits commenced in 1999. Upon depletion, the JEB pit was converted to a Tailings Management Facility (TMF). The Sue C pit will be converted to a TMF for the disposal of waste from the McLean Lake and Cigar Lake operations. Production from the Sue A mine and development of the Sue E mine, commenced in mid-2005. Stacey Franks ( McClean, born 17 February 1989) is an English pop singer. She was part of the S Club 7 spin-off band, S Club 8 and in 2009 took part in the sixth series of ''The X Factor''. Career 2001–05: S Club Juniors Franks was born in Bispham, Blackpool, Lancashire. In 2001 she auditioned for a place in the group S Club 7 on their 2002 Carnival Tour. She won a part in the S Club Juniors, aged 12 years old. In 2002 the group released four singles and guest starred in ''Viva S Club''. After S Club split up in 2003, 19 Entertainment decided to keep S Club Juniors going, so they were renamed S Club 8 and released a further three songs. Sheila McClean, RUA, (13 August 1932 – 5 August 2016) was an Irish painter, whose work was in the impressionist style. Life and work Sheila McClean was originally from Moville, County Donegal, Ireland and attended Thornhill College in Derry, Northern Ireland where she later lived. She painted the land and sea around her. Derek Hill, a great admirer of her work, said, "Her paintings capture the Donegal we all feel in retrospect". Raymond McClean
Dr. Raymond McClean (16 January 1933 – 29 January 2011) was an Irish nationalist politician and physician from Northern Ireland. McClean was born in Coleraine but moved to Derry with his parents when he was six. His father had been in the Royal Air Force but ran a pub in Derry. McClean studied at St Columb's College, Derry and then proceeded to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, where he qualified as a medical doctor in 1958. He then followed his father and enrolled in the Royal Air Force but left after a year and returned to Derry where he worked as a general practitioner and also acted as club doctor to Derry City F.C. and local amateur boxing clubs.
