Kesera Senanayake
Kesera Senanayake, JP, UM is a Sri Lankan diplomat, politician and the current Mayor of Kandy. The younger son of Edward Lionel Senanayake, former Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament and Seetha Senanayake. Senanayake was educated at Trinity College, Kandy before attending the University of London where he received his law degree and a master's degree in International Law. He also a master's degree in Human Rights from the University of Colombo. Harindra Dunuwille
Tikiribanda Harindranatha "Harindra" Dunuwille (born 29 September 1946) is a Sri Lankan lawyer and politician. He was a former member of parliament (1989–1994), former Deputy Minister of State for Constitutional Affairs (1989–93), and Mayor of Kandy (1997–2002). Born to a prominent family in Kandy, Dunuwille was educated at Trinity College, Kandy and Ceylon Law College. A keen sportsmen he won the coveted Trinity Lion in 1966 and was also the president of the Students Union at the Ceylon Law College. Starting a successful legal practice in Kandy, he went on to become the president of the Kandy Bar Association and the vice-president of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. Chandra Ranaraja
Chandra Ranaraja (née Mahadiulwewa) (b. 1939 – d. 2 March 2016) was the first female mayor in Sri Lanka, when she was elected the Mayor of Kandy in 1990. The eldest in a family of seven children, Chandra was born in Anuradhapura in 1939. Her grandfather, D. P. B. Mahadiulwewa, was Chairman of the Village Tribunals, which functioned during British colonial times. Her father was S. H. Mahadiulwewa (1906–1988), Kachcheri Mudliyar of Anuradhapura and the member of parliament for Kalawewa between 1947 and 1952. Chandra was educated at Hillwood College, Kandy and was one of the first women to attend the University of Peradeniya from the Northern Central Province, graduating with a teaching degree in 1961. Deshamanya Noel Wimalasena (23 March 1914 – 5 May 1994) was a Sri Lankan lawyer, politician and the first Governor of Sabaragamuwa. The Senate was the upper chamber of the parliament of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) established in 1947 by the Soulbury Commission.
