Mayfield Secondary School is located in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. It is one of two Regional Arts Schools in the Peel District School Board. Regional Arts Program Four disciplines of art are hosted at Mayfield: drama, dance, music, and visual arts. Each has its own night to showcase the talents of the students at a junior (grades 9 and 10) and senior (grades 11 and 12) level. Their improv team also competes in various National competitions. Mayfield School, previously St Leonards-Mayfield School, is an independent Catholic boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18. It is situated in the village of Mayfield in East Sussex. The current headmistress is Miss Antonia Beary. The school was founded by Mother Cornelia Connelly, S.H.C.J., in 1872, with the oldest buildings dating from the 14th century. History Mayfield School has its origins in the Convent of the Holy Child Jesus school at St Leonards-on-Sea. Mother Cornelia Connelly of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus chanced upon the Old Palace at the idyllic village of Mayfield. At that time Louisa Caton, the Duchess of Leeds (widow of Francis D'Arcy-Osborne, 7th Duke of Leeds) had requested Mother Connelly to take her in as a nun. Mayfield School is a mixed all-through school for pupils ages 4 to 16 located in North End, Portsmouth. The school The original school building was built in 1932 to the designs of the architect Adrien J. Sharp in the Neo-Georgian style. It comprised a central hall, with classrooms arranged around East and West quadrangles. Additions were made to the rear in the 1950s and 60s, with a new science and woodwork block and sports hall being constructed in the 1970s. The building retained many of its original 1930s architectural features, including parquet flooring throughout, wall tiling in every room, fireplaces, stair balustrades, internal wooden windows and doors, etc. Due to overdue maintenance the 1932 building required repairs and renovation, rather than pursuing this route funding was offered for a new building and this plan was agreed in 2017, with construction beginning on a new school building on the East playing field in 2020. Mayfield High School (MHS) is one of four traditional public high schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of 2009–10, the school has over 2,300 students and 130 teachers, and covers grades 9–12. The school is a part of the Las Cruces Public Schools district. History MHS was opened in 1965 after Las Cruces High School became overcrowded. It became the second high school in Las Cruces. The school was named after former Las Cruces Public Schools superintendent, ''Thomas J. Mayfield''.
