Maya (1961 Film)
''Maya'' () is a 1961 Bollywood film directed by D.D. Kashyap. The film stars Dev Anand and Mala Sinha along with Lalita Pawar in the main lead. This film ''Maya'' was made just a year before ''Asli-Naqli'', but with a very similar story line. It was less successful in the box office compared to ''Asli-Naqli''. But with the music of the film, composed by Maestro Salil Chowdhury and the songs penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, the film was a big hit and was much liked. Synopsis and characters A wealthy young man, Manmohan (Dev Anand) strikes to his own to see how the rest of the world lives. He pretends to be poor, goes to live in a community of poor people, and falls in love with a poor girl, Shyama (Mala Sinha), who doesn't realise he's a wealthy man. Dev Anand
Dharamdev Pishorimal Anand (26 September 1923 – 3 December 2011), better known as Dev Anand, was an Indian actor, writer, director and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema, through a career that spanned over six decades. He was one of the most successful actors of Indian cinema and a part of "Trinity- The Golden Trio" along with Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contribution to Indian cinema. He has won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor twice and Filmfare's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. Dwijen Mukhopadhyay (12 November 1927 – 24 December 2018) was an Indian composer and singer whose musical career spanned six decades. He was a performer of Rabindrasangeet, Bengali basic songs, Bengali and Hindi film songs. He recorded more than 1500 songs, of which about 800 are songs of Rabindranath Tagore. Nana Palshikar ( mr, नाना पळशीकर) (1907 – 1 June 1984) was an Indian actor who appeared in over 80 Hindi films. He made his film debut in 1935 with ''Dhuwandhar'', and went on to play character roles in both Hindi mainstream and arthouse films. He was also cast in small parts in a few international productions such as ''Maya'' (1966), '' The Guru'' (1969) and ''Gandhi'' (1982).
