Ian John Maxfield (born 23 June 1959) is a former Australian politician. Born in Warragul, Victoria, he graduated from Drouin High School in 1976. In 1979, he received an A-Grade Electrical Mechanic and Motor Control certificate from Noble Park TAFE and became an electrician. In 1986, he became an organiser with the Shop Assistants Union. In 1999, Maxfield was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Labor member for the Liberal-held seat of Narracan The electoral district of Narracan is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. James Vivian "Snowy" Maxfield (27 August 1893 – 23 August 1953) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family James Vivian Maxfield was born at Bendigo, Victoria, on 27 August 1893. He married Kathleen Ursula O'Rourke in 1924. Education He was educated at the Marist Brothers' College in Bendigo. Margaret Alice Waugh Maxfield (February 23, 1926 – December 20, 2016) was an American mathematician and mathematics book author. Education and personal life Margaret Waugh was born on February 23, 1926, in Willimantic, Connecticut. Her father was agricultural economist Frederick V. Waugh and her grandfather was horticulturist Frank Albert Waugh. She was active in the mathematics club at Oberlin College in the mid-1940s, and graduated from Oberlin in 1947. After earning a master's degree in 1948 from the University of Wisconsin, she completed her Ph.D. in 1951 at the University of Oregon. Her dissertation, ''Fermat's Theorem for Matrices over a Modular Ring'', was supervised by Ivan M. Niven. In 1948 she had married John Edward Maxfield, another student at Wisconsin and the University of Oregon who became her frequent collaborator. Max Maxfield (born February 17, 1945) was the 20th Secretary of State for the U.S. state of Wyoming. He assumed the position in January 2007 and was handily reelected in November 2010. He was not a candidate for a third term in the August 2014 Republican primary election. From 1999 to 2007, he was the 18th state auditor of Wyoming. Because Wyoming has no position of lieutenant governor, under the terms of the state's constitution, the secretary of state is first in the line of succession to be governor. Richard Vance Maxfield (February 2, 1927 – June 27, 1969) was a composer of instrumental, electro-acoustic, and electronic music. Born in Seattle, Maxfield studied at Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley (with Roger Sessions) and privately with Ernst Krenek in Los Angeles. A Hertz Prize travel scholarship allowed Maxfield to travel to Europe, where he met Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Luigi Nono. in 1953 he studied at Tanglewood with Aaron Copland. In 1954-55 he studied at Princeton University with Sessions and his pupil Milton Babbitt. A Fulbright Scholarship allowed Maxfield to live in Europe between 1955 and 1957, where he studied with Luigi Dallapiccola and Bruno Maderna, lived for a brief period with Hans Werner Henze and met John Cage and David Tudor. Stuart Maxfield
Stuart Maxfield (born 9 April 1972) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the Swans' captain until 5 May 2005, when he stood down from the position. Maxfield was recruited in 1990 from Caulfield Grammar School by Richmond, and debuted that year. He played six seasons at Richmond, making 89 senior appearances. In the 1996 pre-season AFL Draft, Richmond released Maxfield from his contract and he was drafted by Sydney, arriving at the club in the same year as Tony Lockett. Maxfield was a solid midfield contributor alongside Paul Kelly, and in 2003 was rewarded by being appointed captain after Kelly retired from the AFL. Thomas Maxfield (real name Macclesfield) (c.1590 – 1 July 1616) was an English Roman Catholic priest. He is a Catholic martyr, beatified in 1929. Life He was born in Stafford gaol, one of the younger sons of William Macclesfield of Chesterton and Maer and Aston, Staffordshire; William Macclesfield was a Catholic recusant, condemned to death in 1587 for harbouring priests, one of whom was his brother Humphrey. His mother was Ursula, daughter of Francis Roos, of Laxton, Nottinghamshire. William Macclesfield is said to have died in prison and is one of the prætermissi as William Maxfield; but, as his death occurred in 1608, this is doubtful. Thomas Maxfield (Methodist)
Thomas Maxfield (died 1784) was an English Wesleyan Methodist preacher. He was one of the earliest local preachers and began preaching in 1739. After a time in the army, he was ordained as a minister. Maxfield separated from John Wesley's movement in 1763 and led his own church. The two were later reconciled on a personal level, but Maxfield never rejoined the Methodists. Life Maxfield, a native of Bristol from a poor background, was converted by John Wesley during his first visit to the city, on 1 May 1739. In March 1740 he was travelling with Charles Wesley, and remained with him for a period. In 1742, when Wesley left London, he gave Maxfield the charge of the Foundery Society, directing him to pray with the members and give them suitable advice. Valerie Maxfield FSA is a Roman archaeologist and emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the University of Exeter. She is a specialist in the archaeology of the Roman army and frontiers, and edited the ''Proceedings of the Devon Archaeological Society'' until December 2020. Academic career Maxfield completed an undergraduate degree in History at the University of Leicester and completed a Phd at Durham University in 1972, at Trevelyan College, supervised by Brian Dobson. She studied at the British School at Rome, and was then appointed as a Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Exeter.
