Mawkmai
Mawkmai is a town and capital of Mawkmai Township in Loilem District, Shan State, Burma. Mawkmai is connected by road to Loimut in the west and Langkho in the north-east which connects with the National Road 45. It was the historical capital of former Mawkmai State Mawkmai, also known as Maukme ( my, မောက်မယ်), was a Shan State in what is today Burma. Mawkmai State
Mawkmai, also known as Maukme ( my, မောက်မယ်), was a Shan State in what is today Burma. As a result of the Anglo-Siamese Boundary Commission of 1892-93 the Möngmaü and Mehsakun trans-Salween districts, claimed by Siam as territories located on the eastern side of the Salween River, were kept as part of Mawkmai state, but Mae Hong Son district was ceded to Siam. Mawkmai Township
Mawkmai Township is a township of Langkho District in the Shan State of Burma. The principal town is Mawkmai. The central portion of the township consists of a wide, well-watered plain on which rice is grown. The rest is chiefly mountainous with ranges running north and south. Rice is the chief crop, but much tobacco of good quality is grown in the Langko district on the Tang River. There is also a great deal of cattle-breeding. Shan States
The Shan States (1885–1948) were a collection of minor Shan kingdoms called ''muang'' whose rulers bore the title ''saopha'' in British Burma. They were analogous to the princely states of British India. The term "Shan States" was first used during the British rule in Burma as a geopolitical designation for certain areas of Burma (officially, the Federated Shan States, which included the Karenni States, consisted of today's Shan State and Kayah State). In some cases, the Siamese Shan States was used to refer to Lan Na (northern Thailand) and Chinese Shan States to the Shan regions in southern Yunnan such as Xishuangbanna. Langkho
Langkho, Laangkher, or Linkhay is a town and seat of Langkho Township and Langkho District, in the Shan State of eastern Burma. It is located east of Wān Long. It is served by Langhko Airport and is accessed along the National Road 45. A bridge in the vicinity crossing the Nam Teng River the town lies on is called Nam Kok Bridge.
