Maurice Lennon
Maurice Lennon is an Irish fiddle player and composer. He grew up in a very musical family, the son of the late fiddle player Ben Lennon and nephew of composer/fiddle player/pianist Charlie Lennon. He won the senior All-Ireland fiddle title aged 17. Professionally, he first came to prominence in the popular 1980's band Stockton's Wing for whom he was fiddle player and a composer of some of their popular tunes, including ''The Golden Stud.'' He received Freedom of County Clare with his Stockton's Wing bandmates in 2017. He was honored as 2011 iBAM Musician of the Year by the Irish American Heritage Centre. His credentials as a composer were solidified with his 2001 suite ''Brian Boru The High King of Tara'', released by Tara Records. All-Ireland Fiddle Champion
This page lists those who have won the senior title at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann title since its foundation in 1951 by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. There were no competitions in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once you win a senior title, you are automatically placed into the All Ireland competition the following year giving you a chance to defend the title. Whilst the majority do not return, some have defended their title on multiple occasions. There are competitions for soloists, duos, trios, and various types of ensembles, many of which are divided into separate competitions by age group. A list of the categories is found here. Stockton's Wing
Stockton's Wing is an Irish band formed in 1977 by four All-Ireland champion musicians; Paul Roche on flute/whistle, Maurice Lennon on fiddle, Tommy Hayes on bodhran, and Kieran Hanrahan on banjo/ mandolin, along with Tony Callinan on guitar and vocals. They have collaborated with well known artists including Christy Moore, "as well as more than a dozen musicians who have worked to create an impressive collection of work". Their style has been described as including "Irish folk, melancholic ballads, upbeat jigs, and modern pop". Stockton's Wing have supported artists including Michael Jackson and Prince. Their song "Over The Moor" is used as the theme music for Liveline, one of the most popular radio shows in Ireland. Irish American Heritage Center
The Irish American Heritage Center (Irish: ''Ionad na Oidhreachtas Éire-Mheiriceánach'') is a non-profit organization located in Chicago that seeks to enhance the study of Irish culture with programming centered on Irish dance, literature, heritage, music, and Irish American cultural contributions to the United States. Dónal Lunny
Dónal Lunny (born 10 March 1947) is an Irish folk musician and producer. He plays left-handed guitar and bouzouki, as well as keyboards and bodhrán. As a founding member of popular bands Planxty, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Coolfin, Mozaik, LAPD, and Usher's Island, he has been at the forefront of the renaissance of Irish traditional music for over five decades. Lunny is the brother of musician and producer Manus Lunny. He had a son, Shane, with singer-songwriter Sinéad O'Connor; Shane was found dead on 7 January 2022, aged 17. Early life Lunny was born on 10 March 1947 in Tullamore. Máirtín O'Connor
Máirtín O'Connor is an Irish button accordionist from Galway, Ireland, who began playing at the age of nine, and whose career has seen him as a member of many traditional music groups that include Skylark, Midnight Well, De Dannan, and The Boys of the Lough. A traditional Irish musician, O'Connor was one of the major forces of the music in the world-renowned ''Riverdance''. His first solo album ''A Connachtman's Rambles'' established him as a solo musician and proved a major critical success. Anthony Drennan
Anthony "Anto" Drennan (born on 1 November 1958) is an English-born Irish guitarist noted for his involvement with the Corrs, Genesis and Mike + the Mechanics among others. Drennan is from a musical Irish family and was born in Luton, England; he and his family moved back to Ireland while he was at a young age. He grew up in County Dublin and attended Kilmacud National School. Drennan became a touring lead guitarist for the Corrs from late 1995 and onwards. He was chosen as the touring second guitarist/bassist for Genesis on their 1998 ''Calling All Stations'' tour (replacing long-time live band member Daryl Stuermer). In 2010 he was hired as a member of the revived Mike + the Mechanics. Mick O'Brien (musician)
Mick O'Brien (born March 26, 1961) is an Irish musician. Life Born in Dublin, Ireland, Mick began his musical education on the uilleann pipes in the renowned Thomas Street Pipers Club in Dublin. His father Dinny O'Brien, a traditional "box" player, was also a constant source of tunes and inspiration. Mick recorded his first LP with his family when he was 13 years old. He later joined Na Píobairí Uilleann, an organisation founded to promote piping, where he absorbed hundreds of tunes and refined his technique. His playing can be heard on numerous recordings with artists such as The Dubliners, Frankie Gavin and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
