Matthew Thomson (sport Shooter)
Matthew Thomson (born 11 January 1986) is a 50 m Rifle shooter who won two gold medals at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. He won gold for the Junior Men's Prone competition with a score of 593 and also led the British Junior Men's team to its first gold in 24 years. Career Thomson began his career in 1996 as a school boy with the Watsonian shooting club. While at university, he was involved with the University of Edinburgh rifle club as well as maintaining his link with Watsonians. His career has taken him around the world where he has competed in Nordic, European and World competitions, as well as being crowned Scottish Senior Men's Prone Champion in 2004 and claiming the Scottish Junior Men's Prone Championship in both 2004 and 2005. Thomson received his first GB Cap in 2004 as a Junior, representing Great Britain at the European Shooting Championships in the Junior Men's 50M Rifle Prone where he placed 29th. Neil Stirton (born 1981) is a British sport shooter. Career Stirton has held a number of Scottish and British shooting records. In the 2005 Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships (the test event for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games), Stirton won Silver in the 50M Rifle Prone Pairs partnering with Martin Sinclair. James Huckle
James Charles Huckle (born 17 September 1990) is an English sport shooter, who represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He won three gold medals at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in India and at the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won a total of four medals, two silver and two bronze. Since leaving competitive sport, Huckle has worked in the financial sector. Early life and education Huckle was born on 17 September 1990 in Harlow, Essex. He is one of triplets with a brother and sister the same age. He started shooting after his father bought a rifle to deal with a rat problem on his farm and at the age of 16 he saved to buy his first competition rifle. European Shooting Championships
The European Shooting Championships are the global sport shooting European championships as regards the disciplines of the sport shooting of the rifle (25, 50 and 300 m) and the pistol (25 and 50 m). Sometimes the competition also includes trap shooting, skeet and running target shooting events, usually organized in special championships. The championships are by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in collaboration with the European Shooting Confederation (ESC). The first edition of the championships took place in 1955 in Bucharest. It takes place biennially, but every year 2-4 special championships held for European countries in separate shooting disciplines.
