Matthew Ryan (Australian Rules Footballer)
Matthew Ryan (born 2 June 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood, the Sydney Swans and the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian/Australian Football League (AFL). Ryan, who was originally from Eltham, played just five games in his first two seasons but then had his best year in 1987. A rover, he amassed a club high 478 disposals, at just under 24 a game and was Collingwood's second best goal-kicker behind Brian Taylor with 28 goals. Eltham Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Eltham, Victoria, currently competing in the Northern Football League. History The Eltham Football Club began playing social matches at nearby Kangaroo Ground, Diamond Creek and Greensborough from around 1904. Phil McGavin was listed as Secretary in 1904. The Northern Football Netball League (formerly known as the Diamond Valley Football League and later Northern Football League) is an Australian sports league based in the Diamond Valley region of suburban Melbourne, Victoria. The Brisbane Football Club, nicknamed the Bears, was a professional Australian rules football club based in Queensland on the Gold Coast (relocated to Brisbane in 1993). Copeland Trophy
The E.W. Copeland Trophy is an Australian rules football award given by the Collingwood Football Club to the player adjudged best and fairest for Collingwood during the year. The Copeland Shield, as it was formerly known, was donated by Ern Copeland, the secretary who came to the club in 1895 and led the club through the 1890s depression, saving it from financial ruin. Troy Lehmann
Troy Lehmann (born 25 February 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the early 1990s. Lehmann was picked up by Collingwood in the 1989 VFL draft, from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club North Adelaide. He played his football mostly as a ruck-rover and kicked two goals on his AFL debut in 1991. Lehmann's 22 kicks and eight handballs in a convincing win over Adelaide at Victoria Park earned him maximum Brownlow Medal votes and he finished the year with an average of 20 disposals a game.
