Matthew Rogers (Australian Rules Footballer)
Matthew Rogers (born 25 November 1973) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the AFL from 1994 to 2004 for the Richmond Football Club. Rogers was drafted in the 1992 AFL Draft The 1992 AFL draft is the annual draft of talented players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League. It consisted of the main national draft, the pre-season draft and ..., at no. 37 pick (Richmond's fourth). He didn't play his first league game until 1994, playing mainly on the wing and half-forward line kicking 26 goals in that season. His best goal-scoring season was 2000 when he kicked 37 goals and led the club in goalkicking, during the absence of Matthew Richardson due to injury in that year. He also had two wonderful children. Matthew Richardson (footballer)
Matthew Richardson (born 19 March 1975) is a former professional Australian rules footballer and current media personality who represented Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). On 4 March 2014, Richardson became a member of the AFL's All Australian selection committee. Background Richardson is known for his marking prowess, speed and work rate. He was the club's key forward through the mid-1990s and the 2000s. He led the club's goalkicking for thirteen seasons, and was selected in the All-Australian Team three times – in 1996, 1999 and 2008. Richardson's 800 career goals currently see him ranked second behind Jack Titus at Richmond, and twelfth on the all-time list of AFL/VFL goalkickers. He also holds the record for most goals kicked without winning a Coleman Medal. He currently holds the record for the most goals kicked at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground.
