Matt Martin (born December 17, 1991) is a retired American stock car racing driver. He's a 2018 graduate of Lyon College in Batesville, Ar. He is the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Mark Martin. Career Martin's career began in quarter midgets when he just was seven years old. His racing experience also includes Bandoleros, Legend cars, the FASTRUCK Series, and the FASCAR Pro Truck Series. He received the nickname "Little Intimidator" due to his driving style. In 2003, Martin was signed to a driver development contract with the Ford Motor Company, making him the youngest member of the Ford racing family. By 2004 at age 13, Martin had five wins in the FastKids division of the FASTRUCK Series, a series for youths aged 12 to 17. Matthew Martin (born April 30, 1971) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League. Martin was a member of Team USA during the 1994 Winter Olympics. Career Martin played for Avon Old Farms from 1988 to 1990 and the University of Maine from 1990 to 1993. Matthew Bryan Martin (born May 8, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). Martin is known for his strong checking abilities. Martin also holds the NHL record for most hits in a season. In the NHL, Martin has been described as both an enforcer and a grinder. Playing career Amateur Martin tried out for his local AAA team, the Windsor Jr. Spitfires, but was cut and played AA hockey for the Lasalle Sabres. In 2005-06 he made the Blenheim Blades Jr.C. club as a free agent. In 2006, he tried out with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League as a walk-on, and made the team, playing on a line with Steven Stamkos. Matthew V. Martin (born July 18, 1969) is an American baseball coach for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. Early life Martin is a native of Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Coronado High School. Career Martin was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 36th round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft. He played for the Billings Mustangs of the Rookie Pioneer League in 1991 (batting .178) and 1992 (batting .243). In 1992 he played for the Charleston Wheelers (batting .223) of the A South Atlantic League, and in 1993 he played for the Winston-Salem Spirits (batting .143 in 7 at bats) of the A+ Carolina League. Matthew Martin (1676-1749) of Alresford Hall, Essex, was an East India Company mariner and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1722 and 1742. Martin was christened at St Mary's Church, Wivenhoe, on 17 May 1676, the second son of Samuel Martine (1640-1694) of Wivenhoe who was a mariner. In about 1702, he married Sarah Jones, daughter of Samuel Jones, who was commander of an East Indiaman. In 1710 his mother and his brother Samuel both died and he inherited the family property at Wivenhoe. Martin was a captain in the service of the East India Company, and commanded the Marlborough Indiaman which sailed to India and China between 1711 and 1721. In 1712 after defending it against three French war ships, he brought his ship safely into Fort St. George with a cargo worth £200,000. Matthew Martin (1748–1838) was an English merchant, known as a naturalist and philanthropist. Life Born in Somerset, Martin was engaged in trade at Exeter. He was a member of the Bath Philosophical Society, and in 1794 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. Later he obtained the post of secretary to a commission for adjusting St. Domingo claims, and settled in a house adjoining Poets' Corner, Westminster. To Martin's efforts, with others, was due the institution, in January 1805, of the Bath Society for the Investigation and Relief of Occasional Distress. He died at Blackheath, aged 90, on 20 November 1838. His wife died 9 August 1827, aged 73.
