Matt Kennedy (rugby League)
Matthew Kennedy is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Newcastle Knights in the 2000s. He last played for the Western Suburbs Rosellas of the Newcastle Rugby League. Is a now a founding member and presidents secretary of the Newcastle inner west craft beer club. Playing career Kennedy made his first grade debut for Newcastle against the Sydney Roosters in round 2 of the 2003 NRL season. Kennedy played 16 games in his debut season including the 36-8 qualifying loss against the same opponents. In 2005, Kennedy was one of 11 players fined by the club for misconduct after a pre-season game in Bathurst. It was alleged that some of the Newcastle players had broken curfew to visit dormitories at Charles Sturt University. It was reported that one of the players had jumped on a student as she slept in her bed and touched her inappropriately. Newcastle Knights
The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. They compete in Australasia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. Playing in red and blue, the Knights joined the top tier competition in 1988, 79 years after the previous Newcastle based team, the Newcastle Rebels had departed the Sydney competition with the formation of a separate league competition based in the Newcastle region. The Western Suburbs Rosellas, Western Suburbs, Wests, The Rosellas, 2/10 - J Baker are a Rugby league club based in the Newcastle, NSW region of Australia. It was a foundation member of the Newcastle Rugby League in 1909 and has been one of the most successful teams in that competition. The club has had a number of players represent Australia including Wally Prigg, a member of the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame. The Newcastle Rugby League is a local rugby league football competition in Newcastle, Australia. It is one of the oldest rugby league competitions in Australia, founded in 1910. A Newcastle representative team was also assembled from players in the League during most of the 20th century. The first grade competition also comprises the NSWRL Presidents Cup Northern Conference. The Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional Rugby league, Rugby League Football Club based in the Eastern Suburbs (Sydney) and parts of inner Sydney. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. 2003 NRL Season
The 2003 NRL premiership was the 96th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the sixth run by the National Rugby League. Fifteen teams competed, with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles returning in place of their failed joint-venture club, the Northern Eagles. Ultimately, the Penrith Panthers defeated reigning champions, the Sydney Roosters in the 2003 NRL grand final, claiming their first premiership since 1991. Dane Tilse (born 24 January 1985, in Scone, New South Wales) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League. He previously played for the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League. His position of choice is at . At tall, Tilse was one of the tallest players in the NRL. Playing career Tilse made his first grade debut for Newcastle in Round 15 2004 against the Sydney Roosters which ended in a 48–4 loss. Tilse joined the Canberra Raiders in 2006. Tilse went on to play over 200 games for Canberra and featured in four finals campaigns for the club. On 1 April 2015, Tilse signed a year contract with Hull Kingston Rovers.
