Mateo Guez is a director, writer, photographer and producer. Born in Paris, France, he resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Biography His 1996 effort, ''Le Dernier Jour'', took first prize at the Decine festival, and the Audience Award at the International Film Festival of Cergy Pontoise. Mateo Gucci (c. 1500 – c. 1550) was a Polish-Italian Renaissance architect and sculptor. He rebuilt the Old Synagogue in the Kraków suburb of Kazimierz, and he may have worked on the Wawel Castle. Mateo González Manrique
Mateo González Manrique was a soldier who served as governor of West Florida between 1813 and 1815. During his administration he helped the British in their fight against the Americans in the War of 1812, providing them with troops and slaves, and allowed them to garrison British troops in the fortifications at Pensacola, capital of West Florida. He thereby earned the enmity of Andrew Jackson, who invaded the city in 1814, although he returned it to Manrique after the British fled. Career Manrique joined the Spanish army in his youth, rising to the ranks of lieutenant colonel and sergeant major. In 1813, Manrique was appointed governor of Spanish West Florida. Mateo Gil () was a Spanish conquistador, who served as ''alcalde'' and ''regidor'' of Santa Fe, Argentina, during the Viceroyalty of Peru. Born in Jaraicejo, Gil had arrived at Río de la Plata in the expedition of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca. Doroteo Guamuch Flores, also called Mateo Flores (February 11, 1922 – August 11, 2011), was a Guatemalan long-distance runner who won several international events, including the Boston Marathon in 1952. Career Guamuch was born in Cotió, Mixco, a city near Guatemala City. During his early athletic career, Guamuch worked in as a low-paid laborer in a textile factory. He would wake at 4:00 am to run for two hours, and run an additional two hours after returning from work at 6:00 pm. Guamuch's career spanned from 1941 to 1957; prior to winning the 1952 Boston Marathon, he was the winner of multiple international races, notably the marathon at the 1946 Barranquilla Games, the half marathon at the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games in Guatemala, and the marathon at the 1955 Pan American Games in Mexico City. He is sometimes known as "El Viejo" (the elder) to distinguish him from his nephew, Mateo Flecha el Joven, Mateo Flecha "El Joven" (the younger), also a composer of Madrigal (music), madrigals.
