Maryland Terrapins Baseball
The Maryland Terrapins baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of University of Maryland, College Park in College Park, Maryland, United States. The program's first season was in 1893, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference since the start of the 2015 season. Its home venue is Shipley Field at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium, located on Maryland's campus. Rob Vaughn is the team's head coach starting in the 2018 season. The program has appeared in six NCAA Tournaments. It has won zero conference tournament championships and five regular season conference titles. As of the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball season, 38 former Terrapins have appeared in Major League Baseball. Big Ten Conference
The Big Ten Conference (stylized B1G, formerly the Western Conference and the Big Nine Conference) is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. Founded as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives in 1896, it predates the founding of its regulating organization, the NCAA. It is based in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois. For many decades the conference consisted of 10 universities, and it has 14 members and 2 affiliate institutions. The conference competes in the NCAA Division I and its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, the highest level of NCAA competition in that sport. Mark Thomas Ciardi (pronounced ''CHAR-dee''; born August 19, 1961) is an American film producer and former Major League Baseball pitcher. He is currently the Founder and CEO of Apex Entertainment. Brett Cecil
Brett Aarion Cecil (born July 2, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals. Cecil was drafted as the 38th overall pick in the 2007 MLB draft by the Blue Jays. He pitched for DeMatha Catholic High School and the Maryland Terrapins of the University of Maryland, College Park. In the summer of 2005, he pitched for the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League and threw the first and only no-hitter by a single pitcher in league history. He first pitched in a professional league for the Class A Auburn Doubledays in 2007. Tom Brown (safety)
Thomas William Brown (born December 12, 1940) is a former professional football player and major league baseball player. Brown briefly played for the Washington Senators of the American League early in the 1963 season, and then was a defensive back in the National Football League for six seasons with the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of Maryland in College Park, where he also played for the baseball team. Tom Bradley (baseball)
Thomas William Bradley (born March 16, 1947) is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher from through for the California Angels, Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants. Career Bradley was drafted out of the University of Maryland by the California Angels on June 7, 1968, in the 7th round of the 1968 Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League debut at the age of 22 with the Angels on Sept. 9, 1969. It was not an auspicious one, Bradley being roughed up in a seven-run inning by the Minnesota Twins and taking the loss in an 11–7 defeat. He entered the game in the sixth inning and gave up a leadoff single to César Tovar and a two-run homer by Leo Cárdenas. Bosey Berger
Louis William "Boze" Berger (May 13, 1910 – November 3, 1992) was an infielder who played for the Cleveland Indians (1932, 1935–1936), Chicago White Sox (1938) and Boston Red Sox (1939). Berger batted and threw right-handed. In a six-season career, Berger was a .236 hitter with 13 home runs and 97 RBI in 343 games played. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was also a two-time All-American forward for the University of Maryland basketball team from 1929 to 1932, where he led the Southern Conference in scoring in 1931 with 19.1 points per game. His #6 jersey has been honored by the university. Berger died in Bethesda, Maryland, at the age of 82. Eric Milton
Eric Robert Milton (born August 4, 1975) is an American former Major League Baseball left-handed starting pitcher who played for several teams between 1998 and 2009, and is currently the head coach at Severna Park High School. Amateur career A native of State College, Pennsylvania, Milton graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1996 while at Maryland, Milton played collegiate summer baseball for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). John Szefc
John Szefc is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as the head coach of the Virginia Tech baseball team. He has held that position since leaving the University of Maryland in June, 2017, where he had coached since the 2013 season. Playing career Szefc played for two seasons for Connecticut before transferring to Drexel. He was an all-conference selection in 1989, his senior year. He graduated from Drexel in 1989. Coaching career After completing his degree at Drexel, Szefc became an assistant coach at his alma mater. He remained for five seasons before moving to Sacred Heart for one season. In August 1995, he was hired as head coach at Marist. He remained at Marist for seven seasons. In just his second season, the Red Foxes earned their first Northeast Conference championship, and Szefc was named NEC Coach of the Year. The Miami Hurricanes (known informally as The U, UM, or The 'Canes) are the intercollegiate sports teams that represent the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
