Maryellen O'Shaughnessy is an American Democratic politician from Columbus, Ohio, and current the Franklin County Clerk of Courts. O'Shaughnessy is serving in her fourth consecutive term. Background O'Shaughnessy is a fifth-generation Central Ohioan. She graduated from Bishop Watterson High School and received a B.A. from The Ohio State University in Journalism. O'Shaughnessy is a fourth-generation funeral director and owner of the O'Shaughnessy Company Funeral Directors, established in 1889. O'Shaughnessy's first campaign for office was in 1992 when she was the Democratic nominee for Franklin County Commissioner. Ohio Secretary Of State
The Secretary of State of Ohio is an elected statewide official in the State of Ohio. The Secretary of state is responsible for overseeing elections in the state; registering business entities (corporations, etc.) and granting them the authority to do business within the state; registering secured transactions; and granting access to public documents. Robert O'Shaughnessy
Robert Emmet O'Shaughnessy, Sr. (February 23, 1918 – February 16, 1991) was an American Democratic politician, member of the Ohio Senate, and Funeral Director. A member of a political family, O'Shaughnessy was initially appointed to the Senate to succeed his brother, Jerry O'Shaughnessy, who had died. In 1974, O'Shaughnessy overcame a divisive primary and a challenge by Republican Keith McNamara to retain the seat. He subsequently was appointed as Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee. In 1978, O'Shaughnessy faced opposition in John Kasich, a political newcomer. In the end, he lost his seat to Kasich, ending his tenure in the Senate at seven years. After his defeat, he opted to become Clerk of the Senate, however was not chosen. Subsequently, he returned to his family funeral home business in Columbus, Ohio; he had worked as a Funeral Director for over fifty years. He died in 1991, at the age of 72. Nina Hudson Turner ( Hudson; born December 7, 1967) is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she was a Cleveland City Council member from 2006 to 2008 and a member of the Ohio Senate from 2008 until 2014. Turner was the Democratic nominee for Ohio Secretary of State in 2014, but lost in the general election against incumbent Jon Husted, receiving 35.5 percent of the vote.
