Mary Seery Kearney is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Senator since June 2020, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. Early life Seery Kearney worked as a barrister, educator and business woman and as chief executive of a housing association. Political career Seery Kearney worked as a Fine Gael Parliamentary Advisor and wrote a number of submissions on behalf of Fine Gael TDs participating in the Constitutional Convention. Seery Kearney served as a member of South Dublin County Council from 2019 to 2020. She unsuccessfully stood for the Labour Panel at the 2020 Seanad election. Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators (''seanadóirí'' in Irish, singular: ''seanadóir''). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. Micheál Martin (; born 1 August 1960) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who is serving as Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs (Ireland), Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence (Ireland), Minister for Defence since December 2022. Members Of The 26th Seanad
There are 60 members of the 26th Seanad Éireann, the upper house of the Oireachtas (Irish parliament). Of these, 49 2020 Seanad election, were elected on a restricted franchise, polls closing on 30–31 March 2020; subsequently the remaining 11 members were nominated by the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, on 27 June 2020.
