Catalan Language
Catalan (; autonym: , ), known in the Valencian Community and Carche as ''Valencian'' (autonym: ), is a Western Romance language. It is the official language of Andorra, and an official language of three autonomous communities in eastern Spain: Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands. It also has semi-official status in the Italian comune of Alghero. Juan José Martí
Juan José Martí (1570 – 22 December 1604) was a Spanish novelist, who was born at Orihuela, Province of Alicante about 1570. He graduated as bachelor of canon law at Valencia in 1591, and in 1598 took his degree as doctor of canon law; in the latter year he was appointed co-examiner in canon law at the University of Valencia, and held the post for six years. He died in Valencia, and was buried in Valencia Cathedral on 22 December 1604. Marti joined the Valencian Academia de los noclurnos, under the name of Atrevimiento, but is best known by another pseudonym, Mateo Luján de Sayavedra, under which he issued an apocryphal continuation (1602) of Alemán's ''Guzmán de Alfarache'' (1599). Marti obtained access to Alemán's unfinished manuscript, and stole some of his ideas; this dishonesty lends point to the sarcastic congratulations which Alemán, in the genuine sequel (1604) pays to his rival's sallies: "I greatly envy them, and should be proud that they were mine." Paula Martí Zambrano (born 29 January 1980) is a professional golfer from Spain. She used to be a member of the LPGA Tour and now plays the Ladies European Tour. Nerea Martí (born 2 January 2002 in Albalat dels Sorells) is a Spanish female racing driver. She currently competes in F1 Academy. Career Karting Martí began karting aged nine through her father's rental kart track. Marcel Martí
Marcel Martí (1925–2010) was an Argentine-born sculptor of Catalan descent. Life and work At the age of three, he returned with his parents to Spain, where the family became established in Barcelona. His father was imprisoned during the Spanish Civil War for activities related to his membership in '' Acció Catòlica''. Martí began to draw by the age of 17, and became interested in sculpture in 1946. In 1948 he had his first exhibition in Barcelona. By 1953, he devoted himself almost entirely to sculpture. His works have been displayed at exhibitions and museums throughout the Americas, as well as in Spain. Following a figurative period, most of his work after 1958 tended to the abstract.
