Martin R. Steele
Martin R. Steele (born 15 September 1946) is a retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant general. He served in combat during the Vietnam War and in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He served for 35 years in the Marine Corps before retiring in 1999. He then became the President and CEO of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City. Early years and education Martin R. Steele was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas (1974) and Masters of Arts degrees from Central Michigan University (1981), Salve Regina College (1985) and the Naval War College (1985). His military education includes the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Naval War College. The 1st Marine Division (1st MARDIV) is a Marine division of the United States Marine Corps headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. It is the ground combat element of the I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF). It is the oldest and largest active duty division in the United States Marine Corps, representing a combat-ready force of more than 19,000 personnel. An officer candidate school (OCS) is a military school which trains civilians and enlisted personnel in order for them to gain a commission as officers in the armed forces of a country. How OCS is run differs between countries and services. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and is one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the United States. It is on the Southern California coast in San Diego County and is bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente and Orange County to the north, Riverside County to the northeast, and Fallbrook to the east.
