Martin Kennedy (composer)
Martin Kennedy (born March 24, 1978) is a pianist and composer of contemporary classical music. Biography Martin Kennedy was born in Wakefield, England and grew up in Pennsylvania and Alabama. He holds a Doctorate in Music Composition from the Juilliard School where he studied as a C.V. Starr fellow under Milton Babbitt and Samuel Adler. He completed his master's degree in composition at the Jacobs School of Music, where he also received his bachelor's degrees in composition and piano performance. Kennedy has written extensively for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. His awards include first prize in the '2 Agosto' International Composing Competition, the 2010 ASCAP Rudolf Nissim Prize for Best Orchestral Work, five ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, a BMI Young Composer Award, Composer-In-Residence for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Suzanne and Lee Ettleson Prize, an Aaron Copland Award, and residencies at the MacDowell and Yaddo artist coloni ...

Martin Kennedy (hurler)
Martin Kennedy (20 November 1898 – 17 July 1983) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Toomevara and with the Tipperary senior inter-county team from 1922 until 1936. Kennedy is regarded as one of Tipperary's greatest-ever players. Playing career Club Kennedy first played club hurling as a goalkeeper with the Borrisoleigh club. He had been born in that portion of the parish and contested two county intermediate finals before transferring his allegiance to the Toomevara club in 1919. It was only when the regular full-forward on that team got injured that Kennedy was used in this position and he went on to enjoy much success. He won his first senior county title in 1919 and added further county medals in 1923, 1930 and 1931. Kennedy continued to play until well into his forties and joined the Kildangan club after marrying and settling there.
