Maroon (Barenaked Ladies Album)
''Maroon'' is the fifth full-length studio album by Barenaked Ladies. The album was the follow-up to 1998's ''Stunt'', the band's most successful album in the United States. ''Maroon'' debuted at No. 1 in Canada (their second to reach No. 1 after their 1992's debut ''Gordon'') and No. 5 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200. In its first week, the album sold 17,800 copies in Canada and just under 128,000 in the U.S. It has sold at least 1 million copies in the U.S. alone. The album spawned three hit singles : "Pinch Me", "Too Little Too Late" and " Falling for the First Time". Unlike past albums, the songs came almost entirely from the pairing of Page/Robertson. One track, "Baby Seat", was written by Page with longtime songwriting partner, Stephen Duffy. Barenaked Ladies
Barenaked Ladies is a Canadian rock band formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario. The band developed a following in Canada, with their self-titled 1991 cassette becoming the first independent release to be certified gold in Canada. They reached mainstream success in Canada when their debut with Reprise Records, ''Gordon'', featuring the singles "If I Had $1000000" and " Brian Wilson", was released in 1992. The band's popularity subsequently spread into the US, beginning with versions of "Brian Wilson" and "The Old Apartment" off their 1996 live album ''Rock Spectacle'', followed by their fourth studio album '' Stunt'', their breakout success in 1998. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Its first edition was published in 1979 and its last in 2004. The guide can be seen at Rate Your Music, while a list of albums given a five star rating by the guide can be seen at Rocklist.net. First edition (1979) ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'' was the first edition of what would later become ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide''. Barenaked Ladies Are Me
''Barenaked Ladies Are Me'' is the seventh full-length original-material studio album by Barenaked Ladies. It was their first original-material album since ''Everything to Everyone'' in 2003. It was released in September 2006 internationally. The album was also the first full-length original-material album from the band following their decision to become independent rather than re-sign with Reprise. The cover art was created by a group of artists called Team Macho. The name has been cited by the band as a double entendre for "Barenaked Ladies Army". Due to the diversity and wealth of content recorded for the album, the release of the material from the ''Are Me'' sessions became more complicated than for earlier albums. Night Light (Kevin Hearn And Thin Buckle Album)
''Night Light'' is the second album by Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle. The band recorded it as a quartet, Tielli having left the band prior. It was produced by Walter Zweifel. It was sold at Barenaked Ladies concerts in late 2003, but wasn't officially released until 2004. ''Night Light'' is a more upbeat album than the band's previous release, ''H-Wing'', which was written largely while Hearn was in the hospital receiving treatment for leukemia. By the time he began to write and record ''Night Light'', the disease was in remission. References to the disease are still present (from "Jocelyn": I decided in my head/That I would come back from the dead), but songs like the title track, "Ball of Twine" and "Born Human" are more upbeat than Hearn's previous album, both in tempo and in message. ''Behind the Music'' is a documentary television series on VH1. Each episode profiles and interviews a popular musical artist or group. The program examines the beginning of their career, their road to success, and the hardships they may have encountered. In 2021, it was announced that the series would be rebooted by Paramount+, which premiered on July 29, 2021. In the field of recorded music, a hidden track (sometimes called a ghost track, secret track or unlisted track) is a song or a piece of audio that has been placed on a CD, audio cassette, LP record, or other recorded medium, in such a way as to avoid detection by the casual listener. Stephen Duffy
Stephen Anthony James Duffy (born 30 May 1960 in Alum Rock, Birmingham, England) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He was a founding member, vocalist, bassist and then drummer of Duran Duran. He went on to record as a solo performer under several different names, and is the singer and songwriter for The Lilac Time with his older brother Nick. He has also co-written with Robbie Williams and Steven Page. Lloyd Edward Elwyn Robertson (born October 25, 1970) is a Canadian musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the band Barenaked Ladies. Steven Jay Page (born June 22, 1970) is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was a founding member, lead singer, guitarist, and a primary songwriter of the music group Barenaked Ladies. Page left the band in February 2009 to pursue a solo career. Early life Page was born in Scarborough, Toronto, Scarborough, Ontario. After skipping grade one, he was enrolled in Scarborough's gifted education, gifted program at Churchill Heights Public School. ''Gordon'' is the debut studio album by Canadian band Barenaked Ladies. It was released through Sire Records on July 28, 1992. After ''The Yellow Tape'' was certified platinum in Canada, the group won a contest hosted by a local radio station. With the winnings, Barenaked Ladies were able to hire producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda and record the album at Le Studio, north of Montreal, Quebec, Chalet Recording Studios, and Reaction Studios (both in Ontario). Though most of the album was recorded without incident, difficulty with "The King of Bedside Manor" caused the band to record the track naked—a tradition they would continue on other albums.
