A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. The 2022 Eliteserien will be the 78th season of top-tier football in Norway. This will be the sixth season of Eliteserien after rebranding from Tippeligaen. The season is scheduled to begin on 2 April 2022 and end on 13 November 2022, not including play-off matches. Bodø/Glimt are the defending champions. The 2021–22 Norwegian Football Cup was the 115th season of the Norwegian annual knock-out football tournament. The first round was played on 24 and 25 July 2021 and the tournament ended with the final being held on 1 May 2022.
