Mark Porter (anaesthetist)
Mark Porter (born 18 April 1962) is a consultant anaesthetist and was chair of the British Medical Association until June 2017 when he was succeeded by Chaand Nagpaul. Early life and education Porter was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme on 18 April 1962 to Jean and John Porter. He studied at the University of Leicester graduating with a BSc in medical science in 1983, and MB ChB in 1989. Career Porter has been a consultant anaesthetist at University Hospital Coventry since 1998, specialising in obstetric and paediatric anaesthesia. He was said by the ''Health Service Journal'' to be the 24th most powerful person in the English NHS in December 2013. Mark Christopher Milson Porter, MBE (born 12 November 1962 in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England) is a GP and medical correspondent for ''The Times''. He also presents on Radio 4 ''Case Notes'' and '' Inside Health''. He joined ''The One Show'' on BBC One in 2011. Porter is in general practice in Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire and he lives in the Cotswolds with his wife and two daughters (born April 1989 and July 1990). He married Rosalind in July 1987 in Axbridge in Somerset. He is the cousin of Jeremy Clarkson Education He grew up in Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, and went to the independent schools Monmouth and Wycliffe College. He studied at University College, London and Westminster Hospital Medical School (now Imperial College School of Medicine) and graduated in 1986. Mark "Didley" Porter (2 October 1974 – 8 October 2006) was a New Zealand racing driver who competed in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar touring car racing series in Australia. His V8 Supercar series debut was in a Ford Falcon at Wakefield Park in 2002, and he debuted in the Bathurst 1000 the same year. Racing death In the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, Porter drove a Hyundai/Hydraulink sponsored Holden VZ Commodore for the M-Sport team. Porter was third in the championship point standings after 14 races of the 18 race season, when the competition moved to the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales for a weekend of races in the Fujitsu and other series. During the race on Friday 6 October 2006, Porter clipped a wall, causing him to lose control of his car in a curve, coming to a stop sideways on the track, with his driver's side facing the oncoming cars. Mark Porter (footballer)
Mark Porter (born 11 October 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton and the Kangaroos in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from North Eastern Victoria, Porter began his senior career as a teenager in the Ovens & King Football League, playing originally for King Valley Thirds, winning their best and fairest in 1992. In 1994, at the age of just seventeen, and while playing for King Valley seniors as a ruckman, Porter won his club best and fairest and also won the Baker Medal as the league's senior best and fairest. In 1995, Porter moved to Melbourne, and was recruited to the VFA by the Coburg Football Club. In his first season with the Lions, he won the Fothergill-Round Medal as the league's most promising young talent. Porter played two seasons for Coburg.
