Mark Parker (cricketer)
Mark Moreton Parker (2 October 1975 – 12 October 2002) was a New Zealand cricket team, New Zealand cricketer. He played three matches of first-class cricket for the Otago Volts in the 1996-97 New Zealand cricket season, 1996-97, and he also played for South Canterbury cricket team, South Canterbury in the Hawke Cup. Born in Timaru on New Zealand's South Island, Parker was the son of New Zealand cricket team, New Zealand cricketer Murray Parker (cricketer), Murray Parker and nephew of John Parker (cricketer, born 1951), John Parker. He scored 50 first-class runs with a top score of 14. He captained New Zealand at Under-20 level and was described by test player Gavin Larsen, as "mega-talented... a great timer of the ball and should have played more first-class cricket". The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out").
