Mark P. Mahon
Mark P. Mahon (April 24, 1930 – September 7, 2017) was an American politician. Mahon grew up in Winsted, Minnesota. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In 1959, he moved to Bloomington, Minnesota and worked at International Harvester. He was active with the United Auto Workers. Mahon served on the Bloomington City Council from 1979 to 1993. Winsted, Minnesota
Winsted is a city in McLeod County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,240 at the 2020 census. History A post office called Winsted has been in operation since 1858. The city was named after Winsted, Connecticut. The name "Winsted" is a portmanteau created from the names of two towns, Winchester and Barkhamsted, located in Litchfield County, Connecticut. The Electric Short Line (commonly referred to as the Luce Line) provided freight and interurban passenger rail service to Winsted. Passenger service ended by the 1950s, and the tracks were abandoned by the Chicago & North Western Railway in 1972. Geography Winsted is in the northeast corner of McLeod County on the west shore of Winsted Lake. It is north-northeast of Glencoe, the county seat, east-northeast of Hutchinson, and south of Howard Lake in Wright County. McLeod County Roads 1, 5, 6, and 9 are the main routes in the community. Bloomington, Minnesota
Bloomington is a suburban city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, on the north bank of the Minnesota River, above its confluence with the Mississippi River, south of downtown Minneapolis. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 89,987, making it Minnesota's fourth-largest city. Bloomington was established as a post–World War II housing boom suburb connected to Minneapolis's urban street grid, and is serviced by two major freeways: Interstate 35W and Interstate 494. Large-scale commercial development is concentrated along the I-494 corridor. International Harvester
The International Harvester Company (often abbreviated by IHC, IH, or simply International ( colloq.)) was an American manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, automobiles, commercial trucks, lawn and garden products, household equipment, and more. It was formed from the 1902 merger of McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company and three smaller manufactures: Milwaukee; Plano; and Warder, Bushnell, and Glessner (manufacturers of Champion brand). In the 1980s all divisions were sold off except for International Trucks, which changed its parent company name to Navistar International (NYSE: NAV).
