Mark Morton (politician)
Mark Fairles Morton (28 September 1865 – 28 September 1938) was an Australian politician. He was born near Nowra to surveyor Henry Gordon Morton and Jane, ''née'' Fairlies. He attended Numbaa Public School and Hurstville College in Goulburn before working on the bridge over the Shoalhaven River at Nowra. He subsequently worked as a stock agent before settling in Nowra as an auctioneer. He served on Nowra Council from 1896, with a period as mayor in 1901. From 1906 to 1916 he was a member of the Aborigines Protection Board. On 6 March 1907, he married Minnie Fuller, with whom he had a son; on 23 April 1919 he married Sarah Emily Fuller. From a political family, his brothers Philip and Henry and his nephew Pat also served in the New South Wales Parliament, while his brother-in-law George Fuller was Premier. Mark Morton (November 22, 1858 – June 25, 1951) was an American businessman and philanthropist. He co-founded the Morton Salt Company. Early life He was born in 1858 in Omaha, Nebraska. His father, J. Sterling Morton, was acting territorial governor of Nebraska, a former United States Secretary of Agriculture, and founder of Arbor Day. His mother, Caroline Joy Morton, was the only Caucasian woman present at the signing of the 1854 "Treaty with the Omaha" which paved the way for Nebraska's statehood. Mark Morton (guitarist)
Mark Duane Morton (born November 25, 1972) is an American musician and digital projects manager who is the lead guitarist and one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Lamb of God. Early life Morton grew up near Williamsburg, Virginia. His first band was Axis, which was composed of other local youth, one being Ryan Lake of Alabama Thunderpussy fame. Morton played rhythm guitar. The band became a popular local act winning the local battle of the bands competition, known as Stockwood, in 1988. Career Morton, Chris Adler, and John Campbell met in 1990 at Virginia Commonwealth University where they were room mates. Several years later, they formed a band under the name "Burn the Priest". Morton soon left to pursue a master's degree, and the band added guitarist Abe Spear, and vocalist, Randy Blythe.
