Mark Mason (announcer)
Mark Mason is an American public address announcer for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association. Mason began working as the Trail Blazers' public address announcer at the start of the 1996–97 NBA season. Since his start, he has announced every preseason and regular season game and reached 843 consecutive regular season games before a health crisis ended the streak in April, 2016. In October, 2016, after a six-month recovery he resumed his spot courtside to begin the 2016-2017 NBA season. A native of Southern California, Mason's radio broadcast career path took him to Portland, Oregon in 1995 where he hosted the "Mark Mason Show", a local news–talk show. The show aired afternoons on KEX 1190 in Portland for almost 30-years. Septimus Winner
Septimus Winner (May 11, 1827 – November 22, 1905) was an American songwriter of the 19th century. He used his own name, and also the pseudonyms Alice Hawthorne, Percy Guyer, Mark Mason, Apsley Street, and Paul Stenton. He was also a teacher, performer, and music publisher. Biography Winner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the seventh child to Joseph E. Winner (an instrument maker specializing in violins) and wife Mary Ann. Mary Ann Winner was a relative of Nathaniel Hawthorne, hence Septimus' use of the Hawthorne name as part of his pseudonym Alice Hawthorne. Winner attended Philadelphia Central High School. Although largely self-taught in the area of music, he did take lessons from Leopold Meignen around 1853, but by that time he was already an established instrumental teacher, and performed locally with various ensembles. Mark Jonathon George Mason (born 12 September 1975) is a former English cricketer. Mason was a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium. He was born at Leicester, Leicestershire. Mason made his debut for Cambridgeshire in a List A match, which came against Hertfordshire. From 2000 to 2003, he represented the county in 5 List-A matches, with his final List-A match coming against Yorkshire. In his 5 matches, he took 6 wickets at a bowling average of 25.66, with best figures of 2/34. Mason also represented Cambridgeshire in the Minor Counties Championship, where he made his debut for the county in that competition against Suffolk. Hagerstown Flying Boxcars
The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars are a professional baseball team that began play in 2024 in Hagerstown, Maryland. The franchise competes in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in the North Division and play their home games at the under-construction Meritus Park. History The team's creation was announced on September 1, 2021, with the intent to start playing in 2023. The delay to 2024 was announced in March 2022 based on the time needed to complete the stadium. Flying Boxcars was announced as the team name on July 20, 2023. The name honors Fairchild Aircraft's production of C-82 and C-119 cargo planes at the Hagerstown Regional Airport. Fairchild Aircraft was at one point the largest employer in Washington County, Maryland, of which Hagerstown is the county seat.
