Mark Higgins (born 16 May 1963) was one of the world's leading strongman competitors, having won the World Strongman Challenge on two occasions, and was the British Muscle Power Champion on four occasions. Previously, he was an international discus thrower and had been a sailor and basketball player at a high level. Sporting career Mark was renowned as a great all-rounder. Mark Higgins threw the discus internationally for Great Britain. His best performance was a creditable 50.80m in a meet in Solihull on 13 Aug 1990, although this placed him well down the all-time British list. Mark Higgins (baseball)
Mark Douglas Higgins (July 9, 1963 – March 22, 2017) was an American Major League Baseball first baseman who played in six games during the 1989 Cleveland Indians season. Amateur career A native of Miami, Florida, Higgins played college baseball at Chipola College and the University of New Orleans. While at Chipola, Higgins was selected by the Texas Rangers in both the January and June phases of the 1983 MLB Draft, but did not sign. After the 1983 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He transferred to UNO for the 1984 season, and led the Privateers to the College World Series, a first for a Louisiana college. Higgins set the New Orleans single season home run record (24), and is a member of UNO's Athletic Hall of Fame. Mark Higgins (born 21 May 1971) is a Manx rally driver competing in the British Rally Championship. His co-driver was Rory Kennedy. Career Higgins was born on the Isle of Man on 21 May 1971. He began his career in motorsport at the age of nine when he took up karting helped by his mother and father. By the age of 17, Higgins had successfully competed in a range of motor sport activities such as trial bikes and karts. He impressed many people as a young man and soon attracted the attention of Manx businessman Roy Dixon who took the young Higgins under his wing, and at just 17 Higgins began his professional motorsport career with a trip to Sweden to learn from the legendary Finn Timo Mäkinen and Anders Kulläng. He has won the British Rally Championship three times, 1997, 2005, 2006. Mark Nicholas Higgins (born 29 September 1958) is an English former footballer who played at centre back for Everton, Manchester United, Bury and Stoke City. Career Born in Buxton, Derbyshire, Higgins is the son of former Bolton Wanderers's centre-back John Higgins. Higgins represented England schoolboys prior to signing for Everton. Higgins joined Everton as an apprentice and earned his first team debut for the Toffees on 5 October 1976. He made a total of 183 appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals. Higgins later picked up a severe injury, which forced him to temporarily retire from the game in May 1984. Defying all expectations, Higgins returned to the game 18 months later, when he joined Manchester United for £60,000 in December 1985. He made his Manchester United debut in a 2–0 home win over Rochdale in the FA Cup Third Round on 9 January 1986.
