Mark Blake (Australian Rules Footballer)
Mark Blake (born 9 September 1985) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A tap ruckman, tall and weighing , Blake played 99 games for Geelong between 2005 and 2010, including the 2009 AFL Premiership. Career Blake was drafted in the 2003 AFL Draft under the father-son rule, he debuted in 2005 in a losing game in front of a crowd of 28,165 at the SCG. Blake kicked his first two career goals against Richmond at Skilled Stadium in round 18, 2007. After having little impact in the 2007 preliminary final against Collingwood, Blake was dropped on the eve of the 2007 AFL Grand Final for former Geelong captain and ruckman, Steven King. 2008 was a successful year for Blake, seeing him permanently become a part of Geelong's ruck duo along with Brad Ottens. Mark Christopher Blake (born 17 December 1967) is an English retired footballer, who played as a defender for Southampton, Colchester United, Shrewsbury Town, Fulham, AS Cannes and Aldershot Town. He made 301 appearances in The Football League, scoring 23 goals. Playing career Blake started his career with Southampton, where he made 18 appearances in The Football League, scoring twice. He was loaned out to Colchester United in 1989. He then moved on to Shrewsbury Town in 1990, where he made 142 league appearances scoring three goals, during a four-year period. Blake then joined Fulham where he played 137 league appearances and scored 17 goals. He then moved on to AS Cannes and Aldershot Town. Non-playing career He went on to become player-manager of Winchester City, winning the FA Vase, Wessex League and Wessex League Cup treble in 2003–04. Mark Anthony Blake (born 16 December 1970) is an English former professional footballer who played in midfielder. He notably played in the Premier League for both Aston Villa and Leicester City, as well as in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Portsmouth, Walsall, Mansfield Town and Kidderminster Harriers. Career Blake started out as a trainee at Aston Villa, where he played a total of 31 games, scoring two goals. He had a brief loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers during early 1991, before leaving Villa for Portsmouth in August 1993 for £400,000. He played just 15 games for Portsmouth before he returned to the Midlands less than eight months later when Leicester City paid £360,000 for him in March 1994 on transfer deadline day, two months before they won promotion to the Premier League.
