University of Illinois Press. p. 101. was an American national weight lifting champion, author and trainer. Biography Berry was born in Chicago in 1896, the son of an engineer and inventor. He was the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting coach at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was the first Olympic weight lifting coach for the U.S. After his success as a weight lifter he focused on teaching others. Berry advocated drinking milk and focusing on compound movements especially heavy squats for building power and bulk. He is considered one of the pioneers of weight lifting with his classic books ''Physical Training Simplified'' and ''Physical Improvement''.Radley, Alan. (2001). Mark Berry (baseball)
Mark Berry (born September 22, 1962 in Oxnard, California) is the former third base coach for the Cincinnati Reds. He spent 27 seasons in the Reds organization as a player, coach, and manager. Early life Berry graduated from Hueneme High School in Oxnard in 1981. He played college baseball at Oxnard Junior College and the University of Arkansas. Playing career The Reds selected Berry in the 6th round of the 1984 draft with the 137th overall pick. He was signed by baseball scout Bill Clark. In his seven seasons as a Reds minor leaguer he, predominantly, played catcher, but also played first base, third base, nine games in the outfield, and one game at shortstop. He was a Pioneer League All-Star catcher in his first season in 1984, then was the Most Valuable Player for the Tampa Tarpons in 1986 and was ranked the organization's eight-best prospect in 1985 and 1987. Mark Berry (born 18 April 1964), better known as Bez, is an English percussionist, dancer, DJ and media personality. He is best known as a member of the rock bands Happy Mondays and Black Grape. Early life Mark Berry was born on 18 April 1964 in Bolton, Lancashire, the son of parents from the Norris Green district of Liverpool. His father was a detective inspector. He grew up in Little Hulton and Walkden, before moving to live with his grandparents in Wigan at the age of 16. Career Bez is best known as the maraca player, dancer, and ''de facto'' mascot of rock band Happy Mondays, having been invited by lead singer Shaun Ryder shortly after the band was formed. He is chiefly remembered for his bizarre style of dancing and use of maracas. The band's second single, "Freaky Dancin'", was rumoured to be a tribute to Bez.
