Mario Menezes
Mario Piedade Menezes (29 May 1960 – 25 June 2022), popularly known by his sobriquet Tragedy King, was an Indian theatre director, playwright, and actor who primarily worked on the Konkani stage. He was the vice president of the Tiatr Academy Goa. Early and personal life Mario Menezes was born in the village of Chinchinim in Goa to Leopoldino and Esmeralda Menezes. He was married to Epiphania Menezes, the couple had two daughters, Rioma and Riosha. Career Menezes made his debut as a professional tiatrist in 1982. He was part of Rosario Rodrigues' troupe and was a long time member of Prince Jacob's troupe before starting out as an independent director and forming his own troupe "Menezes Theatre" in 2001. Chinchinim
Chinchinim (''Chinchone'') is a census town in Goa state, India. It is located in the Salcete Tehsil, ''taluka'' of South Goa district. Prior to achieving the current status of a small township, it was considered one of the biggest villages of southern Goa. Geography Chinchinim is located at . It has an elevation of . It lies on the banks of the Sal River (India), River Sal. History The name 'Chinchinim' is derived from 'Chinchinath', the local deity, from one of the four temples present in Chinchinim. Goa Konkani Akademi
The Goa Konkani Akademi (Goa Academy of Letters for Konkani) is an organization set up by the Government of Goa in 1986 to promote the Konkani in Goa. Its stated aim is to accelerate the pace of development of Konkani by encouraging writers, researchers, etc. and to bring Konkanis from all areas together. Nature The Goa Konkani Akademi was founded on 4 March 1986. It is an autonomous body and has jurisdiction over the state of Goa. It undertakes activities for the development and promotion of Konkani. GKA receives grants from the Government of Goa. The current Akademi President is Pundalik Naik (2002–present). Goan Catholics ( gom, Goenchem Katholik) are an ethno-religious community of Indian Christians following the Roman Rite of worship from the Goa state, in the southern part of the Konkan region along the west coast of India.
