Marilyn (2011 Film)
''Marilyn'' is a 2011 romantic crime drama film written and directed by Christopher Petry, starring Ryan Robbins and Allison Mack. It is based upon the true story of Paddy Mitchell, a notorious bank robber who was part of the Stopwatch Gang, who appeared on many of the top FBI most wanted lists during his tenure as a criminal. The film is noted for having been released via Distrify, a video on demand system which allows for the distributor to make money from the film via either rental or purchase. Plot Michael Grant (Ryan Robbins), is a paranoid and precarious criminal on the run, who regretfully takes in a twenty-year-old girl, Marilyn (Allison Mack), however, it is constantly hinted that she may be just a teenager. She played Chloe Sullivan on the superhero series ''Smallville'' (2001–2011) and had a recurring role on the comedy series '' Wilfred'' (2012–2014). Patrick Michael "Paddy" Mitchell (June 26, 1942 – January 14, 2007) of Ottawa, Ontario, was leader of the notorious " Stopwatch Gang" of bank robbers. Mitchell was on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's most wanted list for the Stopwatch Gang's bank robberies across the United States. Background Mitchell, working with fellow Canadians Stephen Reid, and Lionel Wright stole approximately $15 million—mainly in the 1970s and 1980s—from more than 140 banks and other sites across Canada and the U.S. The Stopwatch Gang, which was famous for its speedy heists, was named for a stopwatch Reid wore around his neck. They successfully completed a $750,000 gold heist in 1974 from the Ottawa airport. They were arrested after that robbery and all escaped from prison by 1979.
