Marie's Rip Tide Lounge
Marie's Rip Tide lounge was a late-night Bucktown lounge and dive-bar. It had garnered national attention numerous times, most recently by its appearance on ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'', where he referred to it as his "favorite Chicago bar". Marie's was open until 4 am on weekends and was known for its pickled eggs and Old Style sold by the six-pack. Marie's closed in August 2013. Marie's was filmed in an episode of the 1980s drama ''Crime Story'', and was the subject of songs including Robbie Fulks' "Marie's Riptide" and Michael McDermott's "20 Miles South of Nowhere". ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' is an American late-night talk show hosted by Conan O'Brien. NBC aired 2,725 episodes from September 13, 1993, to February 20, 2009. The show featured varied comedic material, celebrity interviews, and musical and comedy performances. Old Style Beer
The G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States, was a brewery firm that operated from 1858 to 1996. It was ultimately acquired by Stroh's, and its independent existence ceased. From 1872 until its acquisition, the brewery bore the family name of its co-founder and brewer Gottlieb Heileman. Background In 1858, Gottlieb Heileman, an immigrant from Württemberg, joined in a business venture with John Gund, an immigrant from Baden. Together, the pair of German expatriates founded The City Brewery in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1858. The City Brewery produced beer at a modest rate, sticking to just local and regional production. The beer produced at the City Brewery primarily went to local hotels and bars. Robert "Robbie" Fulks (born March 25, 1963) is an American alternative country singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and long-time Chicago, Illinois resident. He has released 13 albums over a career spanning more than 30 years. His 2016 record ''Upland Stories'' was nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album and the song "Alabama at Night" was nominated for a Grammy for Best American Roots Song. Michael McDermott (born August 24, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois, United States. His music is enjoyed by Stephen King, who wrote liner notes for one of McDermott's albums. Career 1991: Record deal & ''620 W. Surf'' McDermott started performing in Chicago coffeehouses in the early 1990s, incorporating elements of Irish music into an American folk rock sound.
