Rupjyoti Kurmi (born 24 July 1977) is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. In May 2021, he was elected as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Mariani (constituency). He defeated Ramani Tanti of Bharatiya Janata Party by 2,446 votes in 2021 Assam Assembly election. In June 2021, he was expelled from Indian National Congress due to disagreement of promotion of the youngster in the party and for his anti-party activities. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. Alok Kumar Ghosh (died 7 August 2021) was an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He was a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Mariani. Early life and education Ghosh was the son of the Bholanath Ghosh. Ghosh passed the H.S.L.C. Exam in the year 1974 from Railway High School, Mariani, Dist. Jorhat, Assam. Political career Ghosh was the Nationalist Congress Party candidate for Mariani in 2001. He received 16198 votes, 26.16% of the total vote. He lost to Rupam Kurmi.
