Maria Wennerström
Maria Wennerström (born 10 April 1985) is a Swedish curler. She currently throws second stones on a team skipped by Margaretha Sigfridsson. Curling career Juniors Wennerström's junior career sent her to four straight World Junior Curling Championships, from 2003 to 2006. At the 2003 World Junior Curling Championships, she was the alternate for the Swedish team skipped by Stina Viktorsson. Wennerström didn't play in any matches, and the team finished 4th. At the 2004 World Junior Curling Championships, Wennerström played lead for Viktorsson's team, and they improved on their 2003 record, by winning the bronze medal. At the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships, Wennerström was promoted, this time to play second for Viktorsson, and they had even more success, winning the silver medal, after losing in the final match against Switzerland's Tania Grivel. Skellefteå
Skellefteå (, locally ) is a city in Västerbotten County, Sweden. It is the seat of Skellefteå Municipality, which had 73,246 inhabitants in 2021. 2012 European Curling Championships
The 2012 European Curling Championships was held from December 7 to 15 at the Löfbergs Lila Arena and the Karlstad Curling Club in Karlstad, Sweden. The Group A competitions was held at the Löfbergs Lila Arena, while the Group B competitions was held at the Karlstad Curling Club. The 2012 European Curling Championships marked the fourth time that Sweden hosted the European Curling Championships. The Group C competitions were held from October 5 to 10 in Erzurum, Turkey. Mirjam Ott
Mirjam Ott (born 27 January 1972 in Bern, Switzerland) is a retired Swiss curler who lives in Laax, Switzerland. She is the 2012 World Curling Champion skip. She is the skip (captain) of the Swiss Olympic Curling Team. She has participated in several Olympic Games contests and has won numerous awards in many other curling events worldwide. Career Ott won the Olympic silver medal twice; in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City (with skip Luzia Ebnöther) and 2006 in Turin (as skip herself), making her the first woman with two Olympic medals in curling. In 2008 the team won the European Championship in Sweden. At the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, her team finished a disappointing fourth place, as Ott's touch completely deserted her late in the semi-final and bronze medal matches. Eve Muirhead
Eve Muirhead (born 22 April 1990) is a Scottish former curler from Perth and the skip of the British Olympic Curling team. Muirhead and the GB team became Olympic champions at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, having previously won the bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. As skip of the Scotland team, Muirhead won the 2011 European Championships in Moscow, the 2013 World Championships in Riga, the 2017 European Championships in St. Gallen and the 2021 European Championships in Lillehammer. She is also a four-time World Junior Champion (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011). 2009 Winter Universiade
The 2009 Winter Universiade, the XXIV Winter Universiade took place in Harbin, China. Student athletes from 44 countries took part in the games. Selection Harbin was selected by FISU on January 10, 2005 over future 2011 Winter Universiade host city Erzurum. They were the only two candidates. Stina Viktorsson (born 27 June 1985) is a Swedish curler from Umeå. She is a skip. Viktorsson had an accomplished Junior career in Sweden winning a bronze medal at the 2004 World Junior Curling Championships and a silver at the 2005 Juniors (losing to Switzerland's Tania Grivel). Also in 2005, Viktorsson won a silver medal at the European Mixed Curling Championship while playing third for Niklas Edin. Viktorsson's return to the 2006 Juniors was a disappointing one, where she finished in 8th place. In 2008, Viktorsson qualified for the 2008 Ford World Women's Curling Championship. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two.
