Maria Braimoh
Maria Hajara Braimoh (born 19 January 1990) is a Nigerian badminton player. She was part of the national team that won the gold medals at the 2007 and 2011 All-Africa Games. Braimoh competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Michelle Claire Edwards
Michelle Claire Edwards (born 11 July 1974) is a South African badminton player. Career Edwards played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics, losing to Aparna Popat of India in the round of 32 in the women's singles. In the women's doubles, Edwards and her partner Chantal Botts were defeated by Nicole Grether and Juliane Schenk of Germany in the round of 32. In 2007, she won 3 medals in badminton at the 2007 All-Africa Games, a gold medal in women's doubles with Chantal Botts, a silver medal in women's singles, and a bronze medal in mixed doubles. She also participated in the Summer Olympic Games of 2008 and 2012 in the women's doubles event. At the 2008 Summer Olympics she competed with Chantal Botts, they lost to Taipei in the first round. In the 2012 Summer Olympics, her partner was Annari Viljoen. Annari Viljoen (born 16 January 1987 in Bloemfontein) is a South African badminton player. In 2011, she won double title at the All-Africa Games in the women's and mixed doubles event, also won the silver medal in the team event. She competed at the 2012 Olympics in the doubles with Michelle Edwards, and made it to the quarter-finals.
