Maria Aparecida Godoy
Maria Aparecida Godoy (born 1945, Guaratinguetá), also known as Cida Godoy, is a Brazilian comic artist and one of the pioneers in the horror and suspense genre in Brazil. Career She started by writing horror stories based on Brazilian folklore, which she sent to several publishers in the hope that one would be interested. One of his texts, "A Vingança da Escrava" ("The Revenge of the Slave Woman"), was read in 1968 by the then art director of Taika publishing house, Rodolfo Zalla, who invited Godoy to turn it into a comic book script and publish in the comic book ''Estórias Negras'', published by GEP. From there, she started writing more and more horror comics, one of her highlights being the Dracula stories in Taika. Her last works in comics were published in 1993 in the horror comic book ''Calafrio''. Guaratinguetá
Guaratinguetá is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte. The population is 122,505 (2020 est.) in an area of 752.64 km2. It is located in the region of Vale do Paraíba; prominent individuals from the area include Saint Frei Galvão, Brazilian President Rodrigues Alves and the cardiologist Dr Euryclides de Jesus Zerbini. Rodolfo Zalla
Rodolfo Zalla (Buenos Aires, July 20, 1931 - São Paulo, June 19th, 2016) was an Argentine comics artist. He started drawing comics while still in Argentina in 1953, but his career gained prominence after moving to Brazil with fellow comic artist José Delbo in 1963. He started producing comic strips of characters such as Targo, O Vingador and O Escorpião. He has worked for several comic book publishers and has produced stories in various genres, such as war and terror. He also produced Disney Comics about Zorro for editora Abril. Count Dracula () is the title character of Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic horror novel ''Dracula''. He is considered to be both the prototypical and the archetypal vampire in subsequent works of fiction. Master of National Comics ( pt-BR, Mestre do Quadrinho Nacional) is one of the categories of Prêmio Angelo Agostini, the most traditional Brazilian award dedicated to comics that has been held since 1985 by Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP). History The "Master of National Comics" category has been part of Prêmio Angelo Agostini since its first edition, in 1985. It is aimed to reward artists who have been dedicated to Brazilian comics for at least 25 years. The four honorees of this first edition were chosen by AQC-ESP board. The following year, the winners were elected by open vote for members of AQC-ESP and comics artists associations from other Brazilian states (and, later, for any interested person, whether comics professionals or readers).
