Margrethe Christiansen
Margrethe Sofie Charlotte Christiansen née Appel (1895–1971) was an influential Danish folk high school teacher who, together with her husband Carl Peder Ostenfeld Christiansen, taught for many years at Askov Højskole. In 1934, she and her husband were appointed leaders of Frederiksborg Højskole where she increasingly took over responsibilities for leadership until her husband's death in 1951. She later spent periods at Bordings Friskole and Snoghøj Højskolen. Active as a public speaker and writer, she is remembered for her biographies of her schoolteacher parents. Askov Højskole
Askov Højskole is a Danish folk high school, that is located in the village of Askov in southern Jutland between Kolding and Esbjerg. It was founded in 1865 as an extension of Denmark's first folk high school, which had been established in 1844 in Rødding by Christian Flor. The first principal of Askov Højskole was Ludvig Schrøder. History After 1864, a group of teachers, along with Ludvig Schrøder as their director, wanted to continue their work north of the border. Askov became known for its introduction of the "extended" højskole in 1878, which had longer terms. A number of extended subjects were offered, which were primarily intended for students (both male and female) who had previously attended other folk high schools. Vejen Municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region of Southern Denmark on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 817 km2, and has a total population of 42,742 (2020). Its mayor is Egon Fræhr, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. Knight Of The Dannebrog
The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Gentofte () is a district of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Major landmarks include Gentofte Town Hall, Gentofte Hospital and Gentofte Church. Gentofte Lake with surrounding parkland and nature reserves form the most important greenspace. Geography Gentofte is roughly bounded by Lyngbyvej to the west, the S-train line to Hillerød to the northeast, Bernstorffsvej to the east and Kildegårdsvej to the south.
